Things somehow have aligned so far this season, but with such performance, it’s only a matter of time before the leaks explode.

Good thing Antonio isn’t playing next match though.
I long for the day we'd play like a complete team from defence to attack. 1 CS in 4 games when we haven't even played any serious team is terrible.

Lingard's goal was really good sha. Very smooth side step.

His finishing seems to have improved since that torrid period where he went almost 2 years without a goal.

For United when he was here.

He didn't play DM for us. Only on very few occasions. Our DMs since Ferguson has been Blind, Carrick, Schweisteiger, Sneiderlin, Matic, Fred/McTominay.

Herrera and Fellaini were occasionally used when there was no DM due to injuries

Every sensible person knows that. When there was no Dm available , we actually played with a fluid Midfield 3 with no specific Dm. Only a moro.n and an eplipetic patient would say Herrera was a Dm for United.

the first goal was a deflection.
the second was stoppable but it's fine margins. very few strikers have the sense (and execution) to aim between legs and the "small place" which is usually that area closest to the post the GK is covering at the time of facing the shot from an angle.
7/10 times it's a goal.

Let him look at the two goals from the link above. The first goal was a deflection. The second goal was due to the power behind the low shot.

The two shots were from players who are very good at taking low shots. Greenwood low shots make goalkeepers look foolish every now and then. Before the International break, did not not beat the goalkeeper on the keepers corner with even a right foot shot?

The Ronaldo's shot had gone between the goalkeeper's legs before he saw it. That is to tell the power behind the shot and the speed it travelled. Even Rashford, when he manages to get his shot on target, has beaten goalkeepers like that- between the legs.

Expert17, if you blame the goalkeeper for the second goal, what about the defenders? How did Ronaldo (36 years) managed to outpaced that defender. Ronaldo is a genius, and genius make defenders and goalkeepers to look stupid

We'll have to outscore most of our opponents this season..Sometimes I just dey see flashes of that abomination committed in Turkey last UCL campaign..Seems our positional play hasn't improved that much..

Na just to dey pray make the goals no dry up at the front..

This thread has shown the importance of being good at debates.

Noticed that it doesn’t really matter if you’re right or wrong, what matters is how you put forth your argument.

Lol, the GK had a bad game and will take the blame (never mind, highest share) for the 1st and 2nd goal.

The Greenwood shot that led to the first goal was straight at him, the bounce on the ball made it difficult for him not even the deflection. The deflection didn't change the direction, it even reduced the pace of the ball.

For the 2nd goal, the Newcastle defense had their faults. Eagle eyed fans will notice Sancho's brilliant movement that opened the space for CR7 to breeze through.

GKs takes the major blame when they are beaten at their near post or btw their legs. Rendering all the actions that took place before it almost useless.

Let me shock you; for the 2nd goal, CR7 didn't hit the ball that hard. The contact was not clean like you claimed.

If there was a day to play like that, it should have been yesterday against Newcastle.

The occasion was just right. No Wilson, no Fraser. Manquillo who hasn’t played since April actually started.

The fans were boisterous, all the big guns were at the stadium, from Glazers, Woodward, to numerous celebrities. Old Trafford was packed and roaring.

Newcastle were in the Lion’s den, but see how the team performed.

We play West Ham next, at their home. That’ll be a greater test considering that Benrahma, Fornals etc. won’t miss the kind of chances Newcastle and Wolves missed. Good thing Antonio is out.

The only goal that the keeper can be completely free of blame is Lingards.

Every other is just poor goal keeping

The GK will be lucky to start the next game.

Nope. That was an excellent strike, not the goalie’s fault at all. Also, this isn’t the first time Bruno has scored that kind of goal.
