He can if he can explain to the VO why his supervisor is sponsoring him
Debsiey:
Dear all, good afternoon. I just joined this platform.

I have some questions on sponsor.

My husband got admitted Uni of Georgia. Has Graduate assistance-ship with tuition waiver.

Can we use his supervisor as sponsor. In order to cover for about $4k deficit.

If you can convince the VO why you are changing direction, I see no problem with this.

Guys when filling the Ds-160 should the person sponsporing the trip be the same person on i-20 as sponspor? or can put up a different name on the DS-160 as the person sponsporing the trip? cause i'm confused

The information on your I-20 should tally with the information on your DS-160. The entity sponsoring the trip should be the same on all documents. The financial information you used to obtain your I-20 should be what you present at the embassy. Good luck.

Good morning everyone,
Most of the schools have been applying to do exempt me from English Language requirements.
However, I would like to know if ToEFL or IELTS won't be a requirement for Visa processing?
Thanks.

Once the school that issues the I-20 is satisfied with your level of proficiency, it remains for you to verbally convince the VO you can speak, read and write well.

Unless the VO is in doubt, TEST results do not seem to be primary requirements for visa issuance. Good luck.

As instructed on the US Visa website, schedule the earliest appointment you can find on the portal (or wait, and keep checking). Then when you are within 60 days of your resumption, apply for emergency appointment. If all your documents are in order, you should be given a date before resumption.

.Status: Visa Denied
Location: Abuja.
Teaching Assistant with Tuition waiver and stipend.
Deficit: 9k.

People of God, I didn't want to post anything about this very weird experience of mine initially but I thought Bleep it, just share it with these people, they've been good to you. They can learn ( or unlearn as the case may be). So here goes the event:

The VO: Next
Me: I walked up to him. He even greeted me first and I responded appropriately.
VO: Please pass your documents and passport
(I forwarded them to him)
VO: He starts typing. He typed and typed and typed and typed.
Me: I waited patiently initially but then after 30 seconds of typing without any verbal interaction I started some shifting movements to get his attention.
VO: So I can see here you have a graduate assistantship award.
Me: Yes, but it's actually a Teaching Assistantship that comes with... (VO cuts me here)
VO: It's OK and continues typing.
Me: At this point I was getting worried. In my mind I was begging him : please ask me something, anything.. Pleaseeee. I have waited 3 months to secure this date.. Please look at meeeeee. (Crying inside)
VO: (Coughs) Unfortunately at this time you're not eligible for a visa but you may apply at a later date. ( passes the dreaded blue paper)

People of God, I was stunned. Like am I dreaming? What just happened. All my mock interview preparations and sleepless nights wasted.

Let me give you all the background. My school resumed classes for fall on August 23. I told the school I couldn't secure a date o, that I want to defer to January 2022. The school say I should calm down, they will allow all international students to resume late until September 20. As a proof of that extension, the school issued me a new i20 with this new information written in all CAPS in the remark section of the i20: "WE WILL ALLOW THIS STUDENT RESUME LATE UP TO SEPTEMBER 20" .
In addition, they also issued me a letter to present at the embassy and at point of entry into the United States.
But as you can all see, I didn't say pim at the embassy today. I have not fully comprehended this experience.

Moral lesson: No matter how qualified you think you are or how packaged your documents are or how sharpened your tongue is, pray for good luck. I was very very unlucky today but I still thank God.

Something must be wrong somewhere in your documents. Or in your profile. Please contact veterans around here like Fairheart, Walspring to review your profile with them. It is highly surprising and strange you were not asked any question. But you should review your profile, prepare again and re-apply. Best of luck.

According to US law, you presented yourself as an intending immigrant. The F-1 visa is belived to be for those w/o immigrant intention. Your Kids with US citizenship put you in that box and that's why you don't qualify to have a F1 visa.
Chimdy2015:

So sorry. I was denied too. D VO started with asking questions about my last trip to the US. Have u been to the US b4? I said yes. When and how long did u stay? Wat did u go 2 do. I told him i went in 2019 to have my baby & stayed 2months. (NB- I cant tell lies its i my records). He asked where i stayed. I said i rented an apartment. He asked if i have other kids. I said yes. He said and all were born in the US. I said yes.
Then he remembered i came for F1 visa. Took my i20 asked who are my sponsors and what they do. I said my mum is a guidance consellor and my husb is a manager in oil and gas and i work in a multinational daily company. He asked for account statement. I gave him one with my husb and i's US joint acct and mums acct. He said how did u open a US acct. I said we travel often. Who is in d US. I said nobody. He said i thought you said your mum is in d US. I said no. He said by US laws u r not allowed to have this type of visa. Read the blue paper 4 more informatn. No questns about my skol or course

ONLY FOR INTENDING APPLICANTS OR APPLICANT PREPARING FOR INTERVIEW

Good day distinguished.

If you intend to apply or have already applied for F1 (study) visa but yet to attend the interview, I recommend you join the U.S. Visa Applicant's Hangout happening virtually this week.

After this hangout, you might just advise yourself to either:

1. Submit a fresh application (DS-160)

2. Postpone your travel plan to enable you prepare based on what you will discover to give you better chance of getting your F1 visa application approved or

3. Applaud yourself and be more confident and ready for your interview.

As you may know, U.S. visa application and interview is not 'one size fits all'. Applications are considered uniquely. However, there are standards and requirements based on session 214b assumptions.

AND REMEMBER, IT IS BETTER AND SAFE TO COMPLETE YOUR VISA APPLICATION (DS-160) YOURSELF. DO NOT PAY ANYONE TO APPLY FOR YOU OR PROCESS YOUR APPLICATION. THEY WON'T BE THERE TO ANSWER QUESTIONS FOR YOU.

This Hangout will address many concerns and it is STRICTLY for intending applicants or applicants preparing for interview.

Register for free to join immediately. Entry is limited to a number of persons. Use the link on the flier.

Warm regards
which dayn time of this week is dis happening

VO: Blonde Lady
Fall 2021- class resumed 23rd august and I resumed online. It was stated on my i-20

My interview lasted 3mins at most

Me: Good Morning Ma
VO: Good Morning
I passed my documents
VO: I see you are going to Jackson State University for a PhD in Public Policy.
Me: I am going to JSU for a PHD in Public Policy and Administration and I'll be specializing in Public Policy Analysis
Types...........
VO: what do you currently do in Nigeria
Me: I work as a graduate assistant at the University of Calabar where I graduated from.
Looks at her screen for a while
VO: when did you graduate from your masters program
Me: 2019 with a CGPA of 3.63/4
VO: will you be carrying out any thesis?
Me: Yes, my thesis will investigate the impact of public policy making and implementation institutions on economic development in Nigeria. This research is relevant now because Nigeria is at the verge of an economic breakdown as a result of bad policies and lack of seasoned policy analysts. My thesis will be supervised by Dr Johnny Gilleylen.
VO: What will this degree do for you
Me: it will enable me take-up a full-time lecturing position at my University. I cannot be a full-time lecturer without a PHD.
VO: I see you have a deficit, who will be paying for it
Me: my mom. She is the CEO of........an independent petroleum marketing company with 3 branches in Nigeria, i mentioned them.
Types...........
VO: I'll be approving your visa, gave me the white paper,
I didn't hear the rest, I almost left out of excitement, she laughed and called me back and said something about taking my i-20 with me to the port of entry and the UK and some European countries being banned from entering the US.

I was denied a visiting visa in 2014 but that didn't even come up.

Special thanks to Teemah and Omolola. I'm so grateful to them for patiently fine-tuning my transcript. Listen to advise and ask questions on this journey.

I'll be willing to help anyone in any little way I can

Diedi:
Hello. Please I need guidance from experienced people here, iv seen where someone was told to tackle the reason for a previous denial in the ds160 space where we are asked if we have been denied a visa before. I wrote

"I WAS REFUSED A VISITING VISA IN 2014 or 2015(please pardon me, i can't remember the exact year). I BELIEVE THE VO REFUSED ME A VISA BECAUSE HE BELIEVED I HAD NO HOME TIES, ALTHOUGH HE WASN'T PATIENT ENOUGH TO LOOK THROUGH MY DOCUMENTS BECAUSE I HAD PROOF. SINCE THEN, I HAVE GONE ON TO GET A MASTERS DEGREE, I HAVE A THRIVING CAREER - ACADEMIA AND HUMANITARIAN FOUNDATION, I BELONG TO PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS AND HAVE MY MUM AND SISTERS HERE. THIS TIME I'M TRAVELLING BECAUSE MY CAREER NEEDS ADVANCEMENT AND EXPOSURE"

Is it okay or do I take it out and just say "YES"
