This has alway been the crux of my argument on Dollar/Naira exchange rate.
There is no way you can get such at $2.00 in the US. Those stuffs you see there can not be less $10.00 which is like N5,200.00 in Nigeria at an exchange rate of N520/$1.00
Value of currency is supposed to measure in term of the basket of goods it can purchase.

US Minimum Wage is $15/hr. At 160hrs a month that is $2,400.00. At $10 which you projected, that's just 0.41% of income

Minimum wage of ₦30,000 per month in Naija. ₦950 for that meal, that's 3.1% of income.

What were u saying again about value of currency?

Plus with these "ugly" looking onions and carrots, in America these will be thrown Away. If these were sold in America, they'd be going for nickels and dimes

Looking at those stuff, one can tell why most Nigerians are often sick terribly. I can bet that plantain was induced with carbide to force & quicken ripening. Nigerians please wake up from the bondage of these politicians killing and wasting your years on earth

Good one!

Meat for the body and words of God to the spirit and soul.

As we eat our daily food, let not forget to read our bible and pray to God.

Moreover
No peace for the wicked so I bid you all who are still enjoying the pleasure of sins to repent and turn to God.

Jesus love you

Let me jump on the trend, too! I decided to make a light dinner after today’s hustle.

I live, cook, and eat alone. See what I got for 950 naira at the market that was closest to where I was this evening.

Veggies - 300
Eggs (5) - 250
Plantain - 400

Fair?

I strongly believe that this is not true, the plantain alone is 1,000 even in Rivers that is major producer.

The vegetables do not look fresh and healthy.

Next time spend more on veggies and reduce the eggs & plantain since you live alone.

Why?

Buying those eggs is the best nutritional decision he made.

You can't compare U.S with Nigeria
There's wide disparity in standard of living and Economy of the two nations.
Purchasing power isn't same so cost of goods cannot be same in each case
What has that got to do with the value of food Basket that each currency can purchase? Why should somebody in the US believe that $2.00 can not do a meal in Nigeria since it can not do it in the US? I need an economist to react to this

Thank God you said “supposed”

In reality, it is measured in trade power on the global scale, standard of living in the said country, salary/ wages, economic viability.

You want to sell plantain 5,000 in a country where minimum wage is 18,000 p/m

do not mind him, no u serious somebody,

tell him to tell their minimum wages there

there is nothing to react to,

the only difference is, standard of living, power of currency, and the purchasing power of the average people of a particular place, thanks

This is not how it goes. You might as well relocate to Nigeria with this kind of thinking.
