It's an accounting related job. I was contacted by a recruiter via LinkedIn. I was scheduled for 2 interviews in succession and was offered employment.

Pretty straightforward!

Op, thanks for the information, but the visa fee u wrote for shortage occupation job is kind of confusing. You wrote £464 for 3years visa and at the tail end of ur write up u wrote £232 as visa fee for 3years...pls I'm kind of confused here.
Thanks for your observation. Please read the post carefully for a better understanding. There are two different classifications of Shortage Occupations:
1. Shortage Occupations in non-healthcare and non-education - £464 for a 3-year visa, or £928 for a 5-year visa.

2. Shortage Occupations in healthcare and education (i.e. HACW visa route) - £232 for a 3-year visa, or £464 for a 5-year visa.
Notice that this second classification has more reduced visa fees and is even exempt from IHS fees, perhaps because it is 'healthcare', which is a sector that developed, saner climes accord more special preference to.

Thank you for the information given. Please i will like to know the English language requirement for senior care giver.
What is the IELTS band needed to score to qualified for the visa interview.
Thank you.

Thank you for this info. please what is the English language requirement to get before one can get COS. For example, the IELTS point to have in each band.
Thank you sir.

Typically, before you can be issued a certificate of sponsorship (COS) by your potential employer. You must have been offered employment in the UK which meets the minimum pay for immigrants.

On accepting the offer, you go through some screening which varies amongst employers. Every employer/organization have specific onboarding activities which varies from background checks, filling of forms, signing some agreements etc.

You are expected to also have prove your knowledge of English language, TB test results (All this have been stated in the first post).

Once you submit all the necessary documents to your employer, they will start processing your COS. You don't have to do anything else but wait patiently till they send it to you. Once you receive the COS, you quote the COS ref number on your visa application.

Let me know if there is any other contribution you think might be helpful.

I think band 4 is the minimum score for IELTS UKVI B1. You may check the UK gov website for details so I don't mislead anyone.

Hello Guys,

What's the recent trend for Skilled Worker Visa Applications (standard).

I completed biometrics on 1 September and haven't heard from them. Application has been with DMC since then.

Any recent timeline?

Only doctors that can’t pass or apply for the professional exams. My friend’s sis just got a job as a doctor here in the UK. She was here 2 months ago to write the exams. How will you be a qualified doctor in Nigeria and do care? Mind you senior careers roleS are majorly care planning Nd medications. Care job here is done by students majorly. If you have the right qualification in Nigerian and experience, follow the process and it will work out.

Oh well, I don’t know about other countries but for the Uk. I have heard of nurses migrating and practicing in their field upon arrival to the UK provided they pass the NMC exam and have the Pin. And doctors too once they pass the plab exam or so. There’s another thread entirely for nurses and doctors and there are people who have gone through that route on that thread

You are very correct. If you are a professional WhT will you come do care that has no value? No sponsorship. I am a Carer because I am a student. I have no health experience. Care wey 16 years old Dey do. We do for hustling here. If you are a professional, write your exams and apply for a job. I just stated an example with a friend sister here. She passed her exams and they just offered her a job as a doctor to resume Jan.

Please tell her to put that energy into passing IELTS. Will she just put 5 years of tedious studying away just to move to the UK?

Even if she's thinking of doing her IELTS in the UK to register as a nurse, she will still have the same problem passing and probably worse due to the accent.

In short, she should use the energy she's using to look for senior care to try acing IELTS, if possible try getting a tutor. I know she can do it if only she believes and perseveres wink

So I've got a job offer and all. But I'm currently in the UK in a visitor visa. How can i convert it to tier 2 visa without going back to Nigeria and applying again?

Hi! Check the introductory post in this thread and click on the first link there. You'll find the section that addresses the conversion procedure for those already in the UK.
