South Africa is currently at the forefront of the Covid fight in Africa - what are u on about?

1. We are the ones who coined the term "vaccine apartheid" and challenged the West to share their vaccines which they're now doing.
2. Together with India we applied to the WTO (on behalf of the developing world) calling on the relaxation of vaccine patents.
3. We were the founding members of the Covax initiative to provide cheap vaccines to Africa even though ourselves we don't rely on Covax.
4. We called for the manufacturing of vaccines in Africa and SA and Rwanda were given the rights to do that 2 months ago.

All this time what has Buhari ever said about Africa and Covid - the Giant of Africa grin?

The point is SA doesn't brag about its work unlike Nigeria but the rest of the world is taking notice of our work.

Okay...

Egypt and South Africa are roughly at the same pedestal as Nigeria, but South Africa would give Egypt a run for their money if in your word, Nigeria Balkanizes.

If Nigeria's balkanization owes to fragmentation through secession, and in consequence begets an Igbo nation, I doubt if South Africa would lift its head when this nation stands to speak after some thirty to fifty years. How these people singlehandedly rose like a phoenix after the Civil War has taken me to the drawing board a lot of times.

Except if enshrouded by the cloud of sentiments, it is clear to all that the country would likely become the industrial revolutionist of the Dark Continent.

If you take away white South Africans from the country, the country may just be worse than Sudan. The senseless xenophobic protests and massive loots give us a clear picture of what the country would have become without the Whites. However, this thread is not about South Africa.

To the question, I think the the Igbos and Yorubas are awesomely creative and enterprising people. The competition for African greatness lies within either of the two major groups. Being in Nigeria with laws and people who don't value innovation take those two backwards.

Ok. Nice viewpoint

Nigeria retaining the epithet ''giant of Africa'' remains a subject of controversy since countries like Angola, Rwanda, Botswana and South Africa appear to be the uprising countries. It depends on what aspect we base the epithet ''giant of africa" on; is it politically, economically, demographically?

Firstly, the title was given to Nigeria in political terms because of her impressive role in the decolonisation of her neighbouring countries. So, let's assume it's for political reasons, because economically, Nigeria isn't the giant we expect.

Honestly, Nigeria is really blessed, and in my next life I'll still want to be a Nigerian, but our leaders and us, the citizens have simply lost focus on the main aim of making Nigeria an advanced nation. Now, other Africans now talk down on Nigeria, especially south Africans. It's alright.

Nigeria remains the political giant of africa....

U didn't mention the most important factors of a superpower - infrastructure and military prowess grin. U gonna tell us about an oil-based economy of largely poor people who can't even manufacture pencils undecided? Half of Africa has far superior living standards and per capita income than Nigeria - and that's a fact coz you're migrating to their countries instead of them migrating to Nigeria (the so-called Giant of Africa).

BTW, South Africa's entertainment industry is almost 2.5 times richer than Nigeria's - and that's also a fact cool, despite not having Nollywood or autotuned afrobeats.

176 billion Rands divided by 14 dollars (exchange rate) is 12.4 billion dollars. (Attachments)

Despite Nigeria's well known problems with leadership, she has managed to have a larger footprint on the continent than south Africa. Liberia, Sierra Leone, darfur, even apartheid SA, leadership doesn't mean more resources but greater judiciousness in using resources for the common Good. Nigerhas been more of a big brother in Africa than anyone else.

South Africa remains the world most unequal country with the whites at the top of the food chain.

That's why you have a large horde of blacks poverty stricken and ever ready to loot immigrants shops. Majority up to 95% of the 35% unemployed workforce in SA are blacks

Quite honestly, an equitable Nigeria is the best case scenario. The Black world would gain a lot by having a major black nation. But how feasible is an equitable Nigeria?

Nigeria remains the political giant of africa....

1. When last did Nigeria lead the AU Commission? SA lead it for 10 years recently despite Nigeria's disapproval. Remember Madame Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma?

2. SA just beat Nigeria to lead the new much-hyped "Africa Free Trade Area" (AFCTA). Mr. Wamkele Mene is the first-ever Secretary General.

3. South Africa is the only African voice at the G20 and BRICS (alliance of the most important emerging economies).

4. SA has the most business interests across the continent and therefore a louder political voice.

Maybe u lead politically in West Africa - but not in Africa. Someone else is in charge over there cool.

Anyway, SA wouldn't look down on Nigeria if u didn't constantly antagonise us - like the OP and his comments against black South Africans. But I gave your opinions a Like nonetheless, sober comments.

You keep mistaking heading agencies for being the boss. No sir. Our daughter is leading the wto, another daughter is deputy sec gen of the un . Please understand that our greatness lies in our dominance of everything african. Our influence is felt on every nation of the earth. People know Davido more than your au commission leader

I hope u realise apartheid ended 30 years ago and that it was a global struggle - Nigeria's contribution didn't even amount to 10%. The neighbouring countries going all the way to Zambia and Tanzania deserve far more gratitude than u do. As usual Nigeria just vexing.

If u played such a big role against apartheid how come Nigeria didn't speak at Mandela's memorial service and funeral grin? Our neighbouring countries, Cuba and Russia spoke. Where was our liberator Nigeria? Stop overstating your role guys, it's pathetic. You are given accolades - you don't give yourself.

So 100 years from now you'll still be talking of the white foundation and denying blacks their glory? We're 3 decades in now. When will be your cutoff date?

Are u even aware that white foundation you're mentioning was limited to just 20% of the country? That's what apartheid was. Look at what the black government (ANC) has achieved for 100% of the population. Do u ever talk about that in Nigeria or just blindly white worship? Can Nigeria after 60 years compare to any of the points below achieved by black South Africans in less than 27 years?
Of the top 10 richest men in SA only one is black. What does that tell you?
