Get vaccinated or be barred from office, Osun tells civil servants

The Osun State Government has handed down a three-week ultimatum for civil servants to get vaccinated or be barred from the state secretariat.

The Special Adviser to Osun State Governor on Public Health, Dr ‘Siji Olamiju, disclosed the government’s plan in a chat with The PUNCH on Friday.

Olamiju, who also said the government, had made Staff Clinic at Abere Secretariat a point of test for civil servant, adding that the workers had been responding.

He said, “The Ministry of Health has made the staff clinic at Abere a point of test for all the civil servant in the secretariat and they are responding. After we have given them a certain period of time, those who still remain unvaccinated may not be allowed to enter into the secretariat.

“We have given them a period of three weeks to have themselves vaccinated. In this regard, the Head of Service is actually the campaign for this, sensitising all the ministries, department and agencies of the availability of test and eventual vaccination. And after this given period, if anyone still remains recalcitrant; we will know which action to take.”

Meanwhile, the state government through a circular to all ministries, departments and agencies obtained on Sunday mandated all public servants who had not been vaccinated against COVID-19 to visit the nearest government health centre to them or their place of work to get vaccinated.

The circular signed by a Permanent Secretary, S. A Aina, on Head of Service, reads partly, “This directive of Mr Governor must be taken seriously by all the workers.”

There is no long term data to prove that this vaccine works (the short term prove it doesn't work) so we don't know what might happen in the next 1 or 2 years to anyone that takes it.

The Vaccine makers are unwilling to accept any responsibility for any adverse events or deaths their products cause. Can Osun state government pay for this liability?

Why are northerners not lining up to take this Vaccine like they do during elections?

If a company is not willing to stand behind its product as safe, especially one rushed to market, I am not willing to take a chance on that product.

People have rights in Nigeria and shouldn't be compelled to take vaccines. Developing vaccines takes time and the Covid-19 vaccines were hurriedly developed to address the worsening cases of coronavirus in the United States at the time....that's why the FDA hurriedly approved it. Today, people have taken it and developed funny ailments (side effects).

Nicki Minaj shared a story of how a guy took the vaccine and became impotent. Later, the lady he was going to marry cancelled their wedding. Human rights should mean something in this part of the world. Can a victim get compensated for severe coronavirus vaccine-related side effects?

Northerners are not lining up to take the Vaccines because the Vaccines contain some quantities of anti-reproduction chemicals and anything that will stop Northerners from producing street Almajaris, Northerners will not take.
