that is the reason the always inflate the price of good and services in Nigerian because if certain amount is mentioned in their associations that how it going to be applied in all their business, in business there is what they call minimise profit to maximize The product. the association Will not allowed you to sell below the agree Price so that you don't gain customer more than everyone.

Those associations activities need to be seriously regulated or ban for over a period of time till Nigeria can boast of some certain working system, why will one want to venture into business and one association somewhere will just come and kill the dream? How?

Register your business with CAC, then write a letter of introduction to the DPO in the police station nearest to you with a copy of your certificate. Whenever the asssociation people show up, show them your CAC certificate and if they do anyhow arrest them and sew them to court chickena. The reason you need to write to your nearest police station is because those union people could embarass you with the police.
Be prayerful because if they aren't capable of attacking you physically they may attack you or you business spiritually.

Joining a business association should not be a compulsory thing to do.It should be a thing of interest

Now let's assume you are about to start up a laundry shop, car wash, tailoring, barbershop, welding and likes you can easily go to the CAC get your business name approved, check with your L.G. revenue department, and State revenue department once those people are settled my brother/sister just paste a photocopied documents received from those aforementioned agencies in your shop, fold your arms and await any scapegoat to deal with. But if you're going for such businesses that require special license(s) e.g. Gas station, Yogurt production, pure water, soap production etc you will have no option than to join the existing association else they will frustrate all your efforts either by conniving with law enforcement agency or coming in their numbers to assault you physically.

Any place or area of business operations have certain rules to aid there trade mission n protect there members to some extent, if that is not done it may be abuse by some to thinks they are demi-god. You dont need to join any association or be a member when a market union says all market or shop owners should observe clean up exercise from 7-10am every Thursdays....so becos you want to protect your so called fundamental right, you will disobey n switch on your generator by that hour to work?
It's not done so my brother, attimes overlook certain things. Joining a business association will not take anything from you.....

Guy if u don't want to join, be ready for serious battle. For Sango ota, I can't speak for all areas, if you are not a member there are some things you can't sell ooo. It's that serious, with your own money distributors will always skip your shop. Very useless law

Those unions alligned with those government agencies you have mentioned and pay them annually, collectively from the union's purse. Forcing someone to join a trade union is illegal in theory but in practice it is difficult. You will face persecutions with the backing of law enforcement agencies and receiving spiritual attacks on the business and others. Those who benefit mostly from this cheating are the old people on that trade who have properly retired and those too old that customers are not patronizing them again. They are the one fighting tooth and nails to enforce mostly the illegal rules of the association in order to collect registration fees and fines which are usually their spoilt of 'war'. Ordinary member has little to gain from the unions. It is another form of man cruelty to man.

Until we deliver ourself from the draconian law of joining association many of these association join forces with government agencies to drain u example is HEAFAMA join forces with medical laboratory scientists to force u to join them and pay unnecessary due, they will act like demigod upon your business the government agencies always move around with the scientists to frustrate people once u are a laboratory technology even when u are licensed by ur Institute they will not accept claiming u are not qualify since the other association don't like u operating it is very bad in laboratory practice

Register your business with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) with approximately N20k and you will be given a business name registration certificate. When the association/union people come, show them and stand your ground that your business is registered and you don't want to join any association. Tell them you are a company/firm registered by the Government. If they insist get your lawyer and go to court you will win.

Governor Akeredolu of Ondo State has banned trade associations because of their excesses. So if your business is IN ondo state, then lucky you.
