Slickleo: Do you stay around there? Check out cars45 on Ago Palace way after the Police Station. I think there’s another one (cars45) just before apple junction when coming from Festac access link bridge. They do Uber inspection. For Bolt, I think you’d have to go outside that area. On another note, can I DM you? Or perhaps a number to reach you on.. Need to ask you sumfin.. 2 Likes |

These Okada riders just commit traffic offences and there's no one to check them. The way they ply one-way on the express is quite alarming these days. They do this with full confidence, you will see them shooing you away from them including their passengers. We'll I don't blame them but their passengers because anyone with a right thinking brain won't sit behind them on the highway to go and face oncoming vehicle. The other day, I dodged one while trying to make uturn at Badore, just as he passed me to join the oncoming lane, he fell down with his passenger and the CAKE the lady was carrying fell too , could have been tragic if the vehicle coming was on top speed. Dispatch riders , make I just leave those wannabe Valentino Rossi and Loius Hamilton. 12 Likes |

Stay away from Ajao Estate for now Secondly, If u are heading to Oshodi or The island from Okota, Ago palace axis. When u come down from Cele bridge normal road is first turning on ur right but that road is blocked now. So u have to get to Ijesha bustop and continue straight on Ijesha road to turn right and connect the Express. Now the warning is; Dont take the first turning right after Ijesha bustop take the second or the third turning. The first turning is now oneway and task force guys are there picking up unsuspecting motorists. 12 Likes |

CheerfulGiver: Deep inside yourself, you know its not about the salary alone. So lets drop the may's and if's. To make things practical, I know for a fact that someone on a 200k salary in a moderate firm I don't want to mention has access to an upfront of 300k plus in January, leave bonus of 300k plus, and yearly bonuses that can be up to 1m naira depending on performance. Let's just peg that at 500k in a year. Add all and divide by 12 and he has an extra 100k on his 200k salary. To you on the outside, hes earning 200k And guess what? He also has access to a loan of 3m naira having worked just one year. So if according to you he can get a Nigerian used car at 1m naira. Then he can easily buy 3 with his loan and put on rentals. This is just a moderate firm and not the top of the line companies in Nigeria. If you need proof I will send to you privately. If he goes on leave, he gets his full salary for that month. A colleague fell down and broke his leg recently. He has not been to work in three months and he's still getting paid. God help any driver who finds himself in that same situation. My point is that, 1. You don't know what else is attached to peoples salary and you cannot make blanket statements like they need to earn 300k salary to compete with a driver on ehailing. 2. They are not even the same and should not be compared. Its apples and oranges from where I stand. 25 Likes |

Pearl1910: It is not about getting the loan, its the interest rate. Certain salary earners get loans at ridiculous interest rates that no one will give you as an ehaling driver. For getting married to a banker, I pay either 1% or 1.5% on my comprehensive insurance(can't remember) . May seem small but when you pay it on 4-5 vehicles like I do, you can imagine how much you'll save on all in about 5 years. These and more are benefits people get that are attached to their salary. You don't know it and you can't make blanket statements on their salary. I want to believe I have answered the rest of your post in my response to CheerfulGiver 14 Likes |

kanuisagoat: Hmmmm... Small small with the exaggerations we still have spouses, siblings and friends in the corporate world. Now u have shifted from 150k to 200k salary He has access to 3m low Interest loan with 200k salary. No bank or fintech will borrow u an amount that requires more than 40% of ur monthly salary as repayment. (Standard is 30%) Why him never collect am? What do u mean by access to upfront of 300k in January? Is it a loan?? The valid points u have made is EOY allowance, leave allowance and If someone is incapacitated for a few months he still gets his pay. But my brother, if u r sick for too long they will lay u off. Whether u will find another job when u get well is another compendium altogether. A girl is on social media now complaining that Shell...Shell o!!! did not pay her medical allowance when they laid her off due to illness. Add all d bonuses and allowances available to the salary; that is the person's yearly benefit. Now weigh this amount with what is obtainable in ehailing. That is what I am talking about. We are not even considering that someone on 200k salary will end up going home with about 170k after taxes. U think if I have opportunity do spare parts business today and be making millions I will not take it. Omo it's all about the money, that's the common denominator and that makes it apples for apples. These chicken change we are arguing about our mates are building houses from proceeds of business and contracts, and we r here adjudicating 200k salary that will finish before u say Jack Robinson. 10 Likes |

kanuisagoat: Ehhh... And I have followed u up there too. Whatever u pay is what u get. Pray the car never needs claim, that time u will hear all the conditions attached to ur low premium insurance. Except it's the bank that owns the insurance company and they are giving u staff rates. In this case it's a special case not for everyone doing corporate job like the current argument. I don't want to sound like I know it all, but I have considerable knowledge of different industries. I worked for a consulting firm for 7years and we managed clients like NNPC, CBN, Mint, FIRS, NPA, Addax, Notre, Schlumberger, GLO, Airtel, Swift, Mainone, Ecobank, Heritage bank, Berger piants, Ikeja electric, name it. Big and medium scale. MDAs, NGO, Oil and gas, banking, insurance, health, education, telecoms etc. I know what is obtainable in these places, there are very very few good opportunities. When I say in general it's still based on personal choice. Someone can still be comfortable with his 80k salary, that's fine but the fact remains the fact. 200k salary sef cannot rob shoulder with a full-time ehailing driver. I rest my case. 4 Likes |

Pearl1910: What can a family man achieve with just 200k salary? You can't even conveniently spend 50k on a sitout. You have bigger opportunity to become rich, if u run your own business. There is too much competition at the workplace. You find a lot of who have worked for many years without promotion, but no one can deny you that in your own business. Few years back my uncle who worked with one major oil firm in Port Harcourt ( a full time staff engineer oo) approached Gtb bank for a loan ( his salary bank) after all documentations and approval from the company, he was only approved to get 30k. Note: he is earning above 200k monthly ooo... Guys ehailing if properly done with determination can liberate you from this cooperate slavery called good job. Just strategize make good profit and diversify to another cooperate business. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Pearl1910: The 200k is the take home after all deductions. I am not talking about gross earnings. Also it's no exaggeration at all and I'll send you proof later in the evening when I'm home. I hope you'll come back to quote your post and admit you were wrong. Yes, the person can collect a loan of 3m on a salary of 200k. You ask why he has not collected it. Who said he hasn't? Infact, most of them do. But then, typical of Nigerians, most of them use it to buy personal cars and flex around. The upfront is not a loan and is paid on the first working day of every year. You say when they fall sick for too long, they will lay them off. Who is going to pay the driver when he falls sick for one day? You may say the driver can continue his driving when he recovers but who says this 8-5 person will not also get an even better job after he recovers? I don't want to digress into businesses and all that. What I want is for you people to stop comparing the salary of those who work in offices to those who drive on ehaling because again, you don't know what else they earn asides that salary. 8 Likes |

I've been thinking about the impending "Taliban" take over of Lagos and how we're unconsciously aiding it. So, I picked an army major going to Bonny camp this morning. We got to ojota and saw those boys that rob people lurking around. He said "do I know who these are?" Yes I replied, "do you know we made them stronger?" How sir. "Good question, your influencers protested against sars and police brutality, right? While they were doing it they didn't carry the Hoodlums along and they misinterpreted it to mean end Police and they went round, led by hired mercineries and real armed robbers to burn and cart away semi automatic asualt rifles, you people hailed them" I'm not part of them o, I interjected, "let me finish, I saw online where you people were jubilating when a police officer is killed or their facilities razed. After the protest, the influencers went silent on the mess they created, some even left the country. The east declared war on security personnel, I lost colleagues" oh sorry sir, " you people should brace up for what you have caused. Lagos island that was rid of Keke and okada have now returned with full force. I pity you people that have no where to run to when the country implodes eventually, because it has become all man for himself" but sir, what's the way out? "Good question. Choose between the evil and the lesser evil. The security agencies or the hoodlums. Don't patronize okadas or govt should mount CCTV to capture passengers faces patronizing them for arrest in their homes. Condemn hoodlum online and on air, change the narrative against them, close down 99.3fm for always being on the side of the evil. Police should form a team similar to sars to kill and take the battle to the Hoodlums. And finally, protect yourself. Hmmmm, I've been pondering on it.... 10 Likes 1 Share |

Pearl1910: That is the case. You didn't consider the fact that there are people like that when you were saying a salary earner needs to earn a 300k before we can compare him with an ehaling driver. Since me and you don't necessarily know what obtains where people work, we cannot come here to make blanket statements and compare salaries with ehaling. Before you know it, someone planning to look for that 300k job makes a wrong choice because of you, decides against it and goes for ehaling forgetting that there are many other perks and earnings outside of that salary. 11 Likes |

kanuisagoat:Let me ignore the fact that you've shifted the goal post from 150k, to now, 200k because in your mind of minds, you've agreed that even a danfo driver is better off than a 150k salary earner and that those perks you mentioned, are not accessible to a 150k salary earner, so the need for you to up the ante. Let me also use this opportunity to thank you for proving the point I've been making. 200k is the benchmark salary in Nigeria for anyone to begin a have a semblance of manageable earnings, cos as far as Nigeria is concerned, anyone earning 1m or less in a month is poor. I've always been against 170k, 150k 100 -50k and I'll now repeat; anyone earning less than 200k a month with a valid license should fuckoff that job, pick a car and take his destiny into his hands. Now, the reality of Lagos is that majority of salary jobs are less than 200k. How many companies pay 200k? How many companies pay 200k, upfront of 300k plus in January, leave bonus of 300k plus, and yearly bonuses that can be up to 1m naira, depending on performance? Yearly bonus is not a constant because it's subject to performance which simply means you can kiss the bonus goodbye if you don't meet up, therefore, you cannot use it in your calculations unless you can prove that everyone who earns 200k as salary can access upfront 300k plus in January, leave bonus of 300k plus, and yearly bonuses that can be up to 1m... You cannot prove it, which makes your submission a fallacy. Let's say I accept your fallacious argument as a statement of fact. The key comment you tried to use in your argument which is subject to various circumstances is that his subjective bonus takes him to 300k monthly, and he can access a loan of 3m after slaving for a full year, trying to meet up. Now I put it to you that every driver that saves 50k a week is already ahead of your 200k guy. That 50k is savings which translates to 200k a month.... How much can your guy save in a month? Your guy can't save 200k in a month so he needs a 3m loan after slaving for a year. So after a year, a bolt driver owns 2.6m of his own money, while your guy owes 3m of companies money. Pls, how exactly is this a perk? So if according to you he can get a Nigerian used car at 1m naira. Then he can easily buy 3 with his loan and put on rentalsSo apart from the fact that he is owing 3m, he also wants to invest it in a business he has no hands on experience in... A recipe for disaster. Pls, how is this a perk? If a driver saves 50k weekly, it takes him 5 months to buy his first car and another 5 months to buy his second car. Within the space of 5 months to get the second car, he has earned an additional 400k. While your guy is the typing his loan request that is still subject to approval based on his performance, and on his ass kissing skills. The bolt driver owes no one. Your salary guy will owe 3m with abeg sir, after 1 year... What perks? This is just a moderate firm and not the top of the line companies in Nigeria. If you need proof I will send to you privately The argument has never been about top of the line companies or whatever name you want to use to glorify slavery, but about jobs that pay less than 300k. Using top of the line, is a fallacious line of argument. If he goes on leave, he gets his full salary for that month.Let's see how long he will continue to be paid. And how many companies can do this? They are in the minority.
My point is, There is no 200k salary earner currently on my level. You can take that to the bank. 8 Likes 1 Share |

kanuisagoat: When I say salary I mean total legal monetary benefits that accrue. I will be waiting for the proof of someone earning 200k and able to collect a low interest loan of 3m. Unless ur proof shows that anybody in Lagos earning 200k can access a loan of 3m then that doesn't change anything in this discussion. But I am interested in this for another purpose. |
