hi guys, let me just go straight to the point.
I have this friend of mine, he stays with me, he like a room mate tho ( I don't want to use the word squat) , he just got a job of recent, in a one man business, he got home today, been the first day, so I asked him how the job is, and what is the pay. guess what , he said they pay 15000 naira, and the job is 9am to 10pm Monday to Saturday, and on Sundays 12pm to 10pm, almost none stop, no break,unless the order for product is not coming.
I was shocked, and told him that's slavery, such job is not healthy, no time for yourself from Monday to Sunday because of 15000,and they won't give you food. 9am to 10pm,gush is that not wickedness of the highest order?
guys what do you think? am i wrong in advising him to stop?
note : they produce chicken n chips, sharwama, ice cream and the likes.

Such businesses are not usually the type that require morning to night presence, if making shawarma and all those sweet mouth things is his skill then let him find another place where the owner knows that the best time for such business is between 4pm to 9pm max or better still start his own.

Since he's living with you complete the good work by starting the business for him.

Why are you advising him to stop he is squatting with you and you don't want him to hustle.... 9ja hard broskiii, make him start from somewhere.

Abiii do you want him to be a burden to you and start disturbing you for minor needs....

Abeg no tell am to stop... I know its not easy.
When you find a better and less stressful job for him, then you can advice him to stop.

fine we all are struggling, nothing nothing but a job that takes your time, 9am to 10pm, and then you get home by 10:30pm n start thinking of what to cook. bro honestly, before the month end, you will spend nothing less than 8k to buy drugs. honestly. it's not worth it.

he doesn't have passion for the job, he just need money, but honestly, I have no issues with the job, but that time is unhealthy. 9am to 10pm Monday to Saturday,and even Sundays. what if they kidnap him , or police grabs him? the annoying thing is no feeding is involved for that long period of time. you still feed yourself from the 15k.gush that's evil.

I can't force him to stop, I only advised him, as a concerned friend, because there are some friends that one can go a little further to see them happy a bit.

honestly some jobs will make one poorer, older and sick. 7days work 9am to 10pm,n no feeding involved, that's cruel. even factory work is 7am to 7pm,they give break by 2pm and pays 18k ( least)

Really really pathetic esp if he still has to part with some of the money for transportation and then for feeding himself at work..

Working for such long hours everyday including on weekends with little or no time for oneself will surely tell on his total well-being.. Definitely nice to know that you're very concerned about your friend, I doubt he'll pay heed to your advice(unless ofcourse you know a better job placement & maybe about 90% sure he'll get it if he were to apply or meet someone who works on the inside) as with the situation of things in Nigeria presently and how difficult it is to get a job.

honestly there are some work that one should never do. 9am to 10pm, on top 15k salary. the drugs he is going to take will be more than 8k so what's the essence of working then.

While I understand you, he may not agree with this now.. You said yesterday was his first day at work, he's probably saying to himself with so much faith that he can do it and will persevere til payday but in the long run he'll see reasons with you, he will..

That initial feeling that one's got a job(nice or not so nice) after trying for sooo long and yhhh bills to pay.. You probably cover for both of you and it's no big deal but he also wants to help out in any way, that in line with planning for the future; taking small steps forward.

Let him learns the trade after some months, he should look for space to ply his trade
