Gov. Umahi Condemns Killing Of Chike Akunyili By "Unknown Gunmen" | #IgbereTV

The Chairman, South East Governors' Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, Engineer David Nweze Umahi has condemned the gruesome murder of Dr. Chike Akunyili, the husband to late Professor Dora Akunyili, former Director-General of NAFDAC by unknown gunmen.

A statement made available to IGBERE TV by the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Francis Nwaze said the Governor while expressing concern over how Ndigbo is now losing most of its finest to hoodlums in the Zone commiserated with the people of Agulu, the Anambra State Government, and Ndigbo on the unfortunate event of the murder of the elder statesman.

He appealed to Security Agencies to rise to the occasion and arrest all perpetrators of the dastardly act to enable them to face justice.

"We have received the shocking story of the gruesome murder of one of our brightest and the husband to our late former Director-General of NAFDAC, late Professor Dora Akunyili by unknown gunmen. On behalf of the Governors of the South East, we condemn the act. It is not only barbaric, but it is also unbecoming how much human lives no longer matter in our Society. We give Security Agencies a marching order to go all to uncover and arrest all the perpetrators of this inhuman act and make them face justice."

He also charged the people of the Zone to collaborate with the relevant security apparatus including the Ebubeagu regional Security outfit to stamp out insecurity in the South East Zone.

He prayed God to grant the departed rest in his bosom.

Very unfortunate incident. However there are conflicting reports on what really happened. We hope the whole truth is unraveled as soon as possible.

I can't imagine the pains he would feel during the last minutes while still struggling.

They should help him on video so unknown gunmen can track them down and kill them too?

Besides the social media clout chasers among them, a lot of things could be going through the minds of the onlookers. Some might be willing to help but scared of repercussion from UGM and some might actually be happy that a politician is feeling the brunt not knowing it’s a friendly kill.

I read the statement issued by Emma Powerful and his IPOB that it was those that "poisoned" the late Prof Dora Akiyuli that killed his husband, really? For starters, the late Prof was not poisoned, she has been battling with Ovarian cancer for some time before she succumbed to the illness. How can Emma Powerful the "guardian" of Ndi Igbo not know this. Why would the supposedly Killers wait for seven years to assassinate the husband, even though the man had made series of public appearances in the East in the past. IPOB should find another lie to tell, not everyone is as dumb as his followers.
