First of all, the link you posted there doesn't talk about anybody supporting boko haram, it only talks about boko haram in general. I'll take it that you don't have any evidence to back up your claims. You went on a long and tedious search and came back with nothing.

Secondly, Buhari has never, ever said a fight against bokoharam is a fight against the north. That's just beer parlour and market gist. For you to mention that means you don't know what you saying. But since you said it is on record he said so, maybe you have the record to share with us.
Further more, the video I'm talking about was when Mohammad Yusuf was killed, and his followers were being clamped down and shot by the army/police. They had not even began attacking anyone yet, save for police stations and government buildings. Yusuf had lots of followers as a preacher, people came from neighbouring countries to listen to him speak. Is that what you want to equate to the populace supporting or cheering boko haram?
You really don't know what you are saying. Boko haram is both dreaded and hated in the north. The northern populace doesn't support them.
