Is Web development, the only lucrative aspect of IT in Nigeria today? Because almost every programmer on this section seems to be a web developer. I know web development is the easiest for an average person to get into, but aren't there other lucrative IT fields in Nigeria like Networking, data science, etc?
I'm asking this because I want to transition into the field of IT and I'm researching on a field that'll suit me.

To answer your question, there are many software developers in Nigeria not just web devs. I happen to have come across a lot of them.

Just like you said, web dev is one of the easiest places to start in IT, but I think the major reason is the cost of acquiring skills or training.

Networking for instance cannot be fully self taught without having access to routers and afterwards interning for a while to develop your skills. So it requires more money, time and effort. To top it all up, you can't work as a freelance network expert or work from home, it has to be within an organisation.

We have Application developers too in Nigeria.
Android or IOS developers only that they are few in Nigeria.
It's people choice.

Iam mobile developer, it all depends on choice and like the guy that commented before, cost of training, not all field can be self taught.
