Some things to consider before investing:

Safety of your funds. No matter how juicy the rate seems if your capital is not safe your returns will be meaningless no matter how big.

Your risk apatite: If you are risk averse don't go into a risky venture you may not be able to cope if things go wrong. In investment you prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

Always note that higher the returns in most cases the higher the risk. Nothing is free. Everything has a price tag.

Do your due diligence and always remember past performers of an investment doesn't guaranteed future returns

Check if the institution is regulated by SEC and the product is registered.

Other considerations could be age, amount to invest, duration etc.

The first investment though is to educate yourself financially and it takes some time. From the foundation of wealth creation and transmission, you then move to specialised domains.

Maybe we should start from the beginning: what is your definition of an investment? And what is your capital ? Where did you get the capital from ? What is your objective (max profit, safety, liquidity, etc.) ?

The answers need not be specific.

Interestingly,without being biased,I think for the longterm gains,real estate might be good and the best but for short term gains,I will advice that treasury bill,bonds and fixed income investments are the best when compare to real estate investment.

The most herculean part of real estate is the aspect of rent collection and maintenance. But with others u don't have to wait to maintain anything nor wait for too long to get ur interest or gains,hence my reason why I settled for bonds,tbill and fixed income.

Real Estate is one of the best and easiest way to create long term for most people, but that does not make it the best.

At age 65 real estate will be 90% or more of the Networth of those who invested while working.


Currently 60% and more of most workers Networth are in their Retirement Savings Account.


Roughly 1% of the Nigerian population are into portfolio Investment eg Treasury Bills, Fixed Income, Bonds, Mutual funds etc.


Very few people understand how to compound their income, to such people Investing in genuine real estate investments for the long term is a good strategy

May we not learn from our own mistakes as it is better to learn from other people's mistake.

During this week, I heard about the millions of naira some of my colleagues lost individually in these digital agric schemes, I couldn't stop praying for you sir for all your advise. You really didn't say anything against it but you mentioned @ the onset of the COVID early last year that a lot of investment schemes would crumble due to the new situation created by the COVID and other investors' money would not be available for these investment schemes to pay the incoming investors. I didn't forget that statement you made such that when I was pressurized by close family to subscribe, I declined and 'am grateful for that informed decision I took.
