Reflect7:Keep quiet! If not for the white folks we would still be putting on leaves. The igbos would not have crossed River Niger uptil now to explore the other parts of Nigeria. Since we began self rule, what have we achieved? You see those our founding fathers ( azikiwe, balewa, awolowo and the likes), they are the cause of all these problems we face today. How can the educated 5% fight for Independence so that they can rule, share and control the largely uneducated 95%? Check other African countries that managed to share their economy with the whites, they are all doing better today. Nigeria chased out the whites, when they were yet to even learn the basics. Come to think of it, we got Independence after industrial revolution had taken place and yet nothing to show for it. Abdulsalami, Obasanjo, Ibb, Buhari... All of them are thieves. Visit their states and check the level of development. Have you ever wondered why government officials always use Hilux,Prado and landcruisers? Because they actually know the roads are bad. If I'm not mistaken, Nigeria imports the most number of Toyota vehicles in Africa, but Toyota chose Ghana to open up an assembly plant... Shame on all of you who still think British sucked Nigeria dry. We discovered oil just before we got Independence, do you think if the British had discovered this same oil on time they would have released us? We would have gotten Independence much later and it would have favoured us in the long run. My brother forget what these politicians say, all of them are trying to cover up their deficiencies. Obasanjo imports one day old chicks and their feeds for his(national) farm and he does not pay import duties at all... My mother saw it herself at the cargo section of MMA Lagos. Oga my advice to you is to leave oyibo who came to discover us from their countries, someone who has invested would not want to run at a loss. 1 Like 1 Share |

Hmmm m, was that the reason why we cannot refine our Crude-Oil locally for local consumption that has destroyed our economy? Was that the reason why we cannot generate enough electricity since independence? Was that the reason for a new Railways systems after the one from the colonial master? |

Colonial Nigeria was ruled by the United Kingdom from the mid-nineteenth century until 1960 when Nigeria achieved independence. British influence in the region began with the prohibition of slave trade to British subjects in 1807. Britain annexed Lagos in 1861 and established the Oil River Protectorate in 1884. My question is what did they even take from you during this time? slaves arfifacts what else. when they left you guys were just discovering your resources and were independent to actually develop in yourselves but what did you do with it? you squandered it all and you come here lying that colonial masters plundered your resources what resources? 1 Like 1 Share |

I agree that the colonial masters used our resources to develop their country but after they left what has been the achievements of our leaders? They have continue to plunder our resources heartlessly. |

duro4chang: Typical blackman mentality of blaming colonial masters for their woes! India was also colonized. Singapore was also colonized. Macau, a former Portuguese colony now has a better performing economy than Portugal. Instead of admitting their failure and asking for forgiveness, Abdulsalam and his generation that are the major cause of the mess we are in now are busy shifting blame on the whitemen that left more than 60 years ago! Can a man who left his father's house more than 60 years ago still blame his dad for his failure to be a success? Haba! |

He explained that his generation saw how during the colonial period, the colonial masters plundered the nation’s wealth and ferried to their lands. And you helped them too. What did you do to right the wrong when you were in power? You did Absolutely NOTHING! And as if your malfeasance was not enough, you bequeathed to the damned country a CONSTITUTION that brought it to its present comatose state. So, Mr. Abudsalami Abubakar, you are no different, you're just like the rest of your TERORRIST FULANI folks...looter's and destroyers. You guys ruined the country and I hope that you suffer and have no peace in your lives for destroying the future of millions of LIEGERIANS. |

McTominay: This alone is the start of your miseducation. This statement is symptomatic of how DISGRACEFULLY IGNORANT you and so many others are about your history. Are you aware that the entire southern and northern Nigeria was a vast textile manufacturing hub before the whites invaded? And that the colonialists destroyed the industry so we could buy textiles from Europe instead? Are you aware that We exported soap to Europe before colonisation, because THEY had no soap industry? Are you aware that Italy had to BAN imported Nigerian SOAP in the 1800s in order to protect the young Italian soap manufacturing industry? Are you aware that BENIN CITY had street lights and underground drainage a full 300 years before London? Are you aware that the Benin Empire exchanged ambassadors with Portugal as early as the late 1490s? Are you aware that in BENIN today sits the largest structure ever constructed by man, the Benin Earthworks and Military Ramparts? Described by the Guinness Book of Records as "the world's largest earthworks carried out prior to the mechanical era"? According to estimates by the New Scientist’s Fred Pearce, Benin City’s walls were at one point “four times longer than the Great Wall of China, and consumed a hundred times more material than the Great Pyramid of Cheops”. Pearce writes that these walls “extended for some 16,000 km in all, in a mosaic of more than 500 interconnected settlement boundaries. They covered 6,500 sq km and were all dug by the Edo people … They took an estimated 150 million hours to construct, and are perhaps the largest single archaeological phenomenon on the planet”. https://www.theguardian.com/cities/2016/mar/18/story-of-cities-5-benin-city-edo-nigeria-mighty-medieval-capital-lost-without-trace Are you aware that BENIN CITY, which was essentially the capital of ancient southern Nigeria, was described by European visitors from the 1500s as one of the most beautiful cities in the entire world? A city where crime was non-existent, and people saw no need to build front doors to their houses? ''Indeed, they classified Benin City as one of the most beautiful and best planned cities in the world. In 1691, the Portuguese ship captain Lourenco Pinto observed: “Great Benin, where the king resides, is larger than Lisbon; all the streets run straight and as far as the eye can see. The houses are large, especially that of the king, which is richly decorated and has fine columns. The city is wealthy and industrious. It is so well governed that theft is unknown and the people live in such security that they have no doors to their houses.” In contrast, London at the same time is described by Bruce Holsinger, professor of English at the University of Virginia, as being a city of “thievery, prostitution, murder, bribery and a thriving black market made the medieval city ripe for exploitation by those with a skill for the quick blade or picking a pocket”. https://www.theguardian.com/cities/2016/mar/18/story-of-cities-5-benin-city-edo-nigeria-mighty-medieval-capital-lost-without-trace You see, until you NIGERIAN SLAVES are RECONNECTED WITH YOUR HISTORY, and remember who you really are, you will continue to wallow in ignorance, self hate, racial inferiority complex, and moral debasement. |

chaloskyx: Look at this ignorant oaf typing balderdash. Just say you have NO CLUE what the colonialists looted from Nigeria, because you are too lazy to study and research. ''slave artifacts''? What are those? Dumbass cretin. You think the colonialists came allllllll the way from Europe to fight and kill your ancestors and rule your land for 80 years, just to collect 'slave artefacts'? Who did this to you people to make you so blind, ignorant, and thoughtless? The facts: Between 1897 and 1960, the colonialists LOOTED from Nigeria, commodities which were the OIL of their day and highly prized on the international market. - Coal - Tin - Iron Ore - Bauxite - Limestone - Zinc - Lead - Cocoa - Rubber - Palm Oil - Timber - Groundnuts - Plus many other minerals and cash crops These fetched them cumulatively over their 80 year rule, TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS in today's money. |

Abacha loots that we are still recovering and the ones snake swallowed, the ones they said were looted in Jonathan's Government and the ones they're still looting were all looted by Colonial masters too I guess. We are our own problem, tribalism and regionalism, religion and the fact that we place no value on intelligence and education got us the present set of leaders that are working so hard to pill up debts for our unborn kids to inherit. Its not fair. If God would answer the prayers of Nigerians today, Nigerian politicians from 1960 till date should be in a special place in hell fire. THEY ARE ALL WICKED, FROM STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY MEMBERS, GOVERNORS, HOUSE OF REPS MEMBERS, SENATORS, PRESIDENTS, ALL OF THEM ARE WICKED. THEY CONSTITUTE THE MAJOR PROBLEMS OF NIGERIA. I pray someday we'll have visionary, progressive, technocrats, civilized, educated, well travelled, business minded men and women at the helm of affairs in Nigeria. I'm vexed |

JOemmy: The British stole $30 TRILLION MINIMUM in today's money, in their 80 year rule of Nigeria. Someone came and seized your entire house, and you ignored him to be chasing a thief that stole a loaf of bread from the house. |
