You make a fair point but the fact of the matter is the Yobo of 2014 was already undergoing diminishing returns just like Musa is right now but we still included them for their experience and standing in the team.

If Musa eventually gets his 100 caps I will still salute him because he has been a great servant to Nigerian football. Will I completely say he has nothing left in the tank? Who knows but remember pre-2018 WC Musa was on an awful run of form guy was even playing in the reserves of Leicester City but he turned out being our best player at the world cup in russia.

By current form Musa shouldn't be in the squad but we all know inclusion in national team squads all over the world is not always as straight forward as that.

Wrong!! Musa went back to Russia to prove himself before the WC.

Trust me people won't know the pain in this type of situation until they are there. Although at the end of the day the boy is grown enough to make his decisions. Hopefully he gives his father a chance in the long run.

I was once confided in by a friend about a similar issue. In this case the father was Yoruba and the mum from Enugu. As a true custodian of Igbo culture, it is forbidden for me to see white and call it black, so I had to damn the emotions of the guy and maybe his mum's too for the hard truth. Firstly, I asked if the dad was legally married to the mum, he said yes, but that they left when they were tender because their mother was being maltreated by his uncles after the death of their father. The woman brought them to Enugu, trained them here, and changed their surname. I told him that was wrong, even if you don't wanna associate with your kinsmen no more, never throw away your true identity (surname), otherwise your dad would be very ashamed in the land of the spirits. My take didn't really sit well with him, but he finally did as I told him, and he is happier now and very at piece with his soul.

You still have a long way to go in life, and a lot to learn, funny enough, you ain't no kid no more. Pray such doesn't befall you as a man. Bye
your disposition in this matter is not even sport related but fillled with emotions and sentiment

I am not from the bassey or ughelumba’s family so I have no say in their affairs so whatever issue they hv should be settled within them

My concern is the lad showing interest in playing for his fatherland which I commend him for

As for you advising me to pray against the same faith as Calvin‘s father well that is left for God to decide not you because every man to his destiny and “chi”

You don’t meddle in another man’s family so leave the ughelumba’s or bassey’s to settle their issues

Imagine the travail of my fellow man, and you want me to keep quiet? Aji gbakwa!

“I had Issues with the mum, out of wickedness she denied me access to my children and changed my son’s surname to her maiden name,”

“I tried my best to settle with her. We went to court in London for me to have access to my children, but she vehemently opposed me seeing my children.

“This very issue happened in 2008. The judge told us to go home and settle the matter as a family, but she denied me and that is the reason that I have not been able to have access to my children."

“I have four sons – Calvin, Elvis, Michael and Matthew. Calvin is my first son. The children visited me in Italy in 2016. We took photos together. It was very lovely atmosphere in Italy.

“I had an access with my children then, but somehow along the line, their mother poisoned Calvin and my other sons to be completely against me. The mother changed their numbers so that I will not be able to communicate with my boys."

“In February this year, i went to England from Italy. I came to Leicester City FC training ground. I introduced myself as Calvin’s father to the officials of the club."

“I presented all my documents, they checked it and they knew I’m the biological father of Calvin and they welcomed me very well.

"The club officials called Calvin. He wanted to be sure if actually his father was around. So they asked me if there is any other name that he is known with.

“I had to convinced them further by mentioning the nickname I used to call him when he was much younger. The officials mentioned the name to Calvin and when he heard the name, he said the person that calls him that name is either his father or mother.

“The club officials allowed me to speak to my son through the club’s telephone. We did speak. He said I should come to his house.

“Getting to his house, he was on call with his mother. Immediately he saw me, he became very upset, that he doesn’t want to see or talk to me. He said he was going to the gym to train.

“I had to go back to Italy dejected and since then I never had access to Calvin and my other three sons. I just want to reconcile with my four boys.

“To be candid, i don’t know the offence I committed against the mother that she should take such drastic action against me, to deprive me access with my children,”

I don't know where his mum came from, she could be Igbo as well because Ohu Ozara people of Ebonyi State also bear the surname "Bassey", and even the mum's name is Eberechi, but she was wrong to have changed the boy's surname, whatever was the problem between her and the father.

Boom! The chronicles of a bitter and a disgruntled black woman ! This is like a replay of what goes on in the USA when you split with a black woman. I guess Nigerian women are learning fast. These new generation Nigerian women feminists are on 7G men hating.

In the USA when you split with a black woman she will use the court system that favors the women folks to torment your life. The court will give custody of your children to her, give the house to her and take 70% of your income and give to her , and leave you with visitation rights which will be at the mercy of the woman. Now , she has the weapon to brainwash your children and turn them against, which may result in your children disowning your surname. This is a commonplace in the USA.

Yes , in Igbo culture, as long as the man paid bride price its actually an act that can attract serious curses if you hijack ownership of the man's children. This is some serious offence!! The man has the OFFOR and OGU on his side.

Well there are Basseys in Ebonyi State though some of their lineages can be traced back to the Ibibios and Efiks, but not all. I have one as a friend, and the first day, he mentioned his surname to me, i was like how could your surname be "Basil", was Catholicism that deep in your family that you guys had to bear such as you surnames, he said no, that what he said was "Bassey" not "Basil". He schooled me on their history. I made researches and read about them to educate and grow my knowledge.

Yea Efiks, Ibibios and Igbos borrow and bear in common some names like Ebere, Chinenye, Ifunanya etc, though in some cases, the names get adulterated like the case of Enyeama(Efik) and Inyama (Ukwa West, Abia State), Abasi (Efik/Ibibio) and Obasi(Igbo).

We work hard to succeed because of our children.
Their love, joy, and happiness keep us going.
When we lose that, we die while still alive cos nothing else matters!
I believe that the SE camp will have a positive impact on Calvin to have a change of heart.
He will be able to understand the importance of a father in one's life! Happy independence @Chriskel! lol!

Not trying to defend Musa's continuous call to the NT which is obviously to ensure he bags beyond 101 caps and set a new NT caps record but I only want to correct the fallacy below.

Ahmed Musa has started 6 league games for Fatih Karagümrük before today. Today, he is in action again from the start (7 starts in 7 league games) and have already bagged an assist with his side up 3-0 after 40mins+.

Musa is no bench warmer in Turkey and Fatih is not the worst side in Turkey.

With those said and corrected, yes, I understand we have better players than Musa going forward but as he is Captain, it is always gonna be hard sidelining him. The politics of the Glasshouse are in his favor. An almost every Skipper of the Super Eagles have been given special treatment in one or more forms from Keshi to Oliseh to Okocha, to Kanu, to Yobo, to Mikel and now to Musa.

But note this, Musa averages 86mins per game in Turkey. He is no benchwarmer.

ChrisKels:

Same Turkey really? For a club that just got promoted? While Yobo was a starter for the then best club in Turkey, do you know Musa is a bench warmer for the worst club in Turkey?

Lol Musa that was getting call ups even when he was club less and a non playing Kano pillar?

So, you would take Egwuekwe ahead of the then Yobo who was in champions league with Fenerbahce?

Sorry man, I'm done with you on this.

Osimhen's greatness lies precisely in his tactical value: even on his bad days he makes himself extremely useful because the defenders cannot let him go even for a second and, contrary to technique, you don't lose speed when you are out of shape.

in his bad days we have seen Osimhen literally open up huge spaces for his teammates simply by "being on the pitch", making a move or occupying a defender and a midfielder together, too scared of his danger, Create an awkward numerical superiority in the middle of the field.
