Calm down, manufacturer recommend you u should consider some changes in certain condition, for example if vehicle is used in a dusty environment, Hill top environment.
Note there is a difference between North America owner's manual and international Global owner's manual. You bought a tokunbo car u go through the car manual also try and go through manual of brand new car which are mostly classified are global u will see a difference.

Maybe you people should start buying Innonson Motors now . those cars are made for Nigerian weather and Terrain .. Make u guys leave Foreign imports alone.. Those foreign car manufacture no sabi say we get African weather and Terrain

So a Toyota in the UAE or those plying the deserts would use a 500W1000 specification?

Am I right or wrong? grin

Lol baba no, check d manual u will see where Dy indicate u can also use 10w40, 15w40, 20w50 etc and Dy emphasis on early oil change interval.
Note u will never see anything like antifreeze on the manual bt coolant and distilled water. Hope you dig.

What I am saying is focus on what is recommended... manufacturer is aware of the different global weather conditions and the cars are made for the whole world not just d temperate regions. So what is recommended covers whether u have winter or harmattan or sun or rain all year round.

Instead make they buy the indigenous Innonso Motor. Those cars are made for our weather and Terrain.. No need to use engine oil, or even a/c . those foreign car manufacture don't know that we don't need a/c . we have our natural way of cooling off and palm oil is all is needed to lubricate. And we get plenty palm oil for various states ......

instead na foreign imports wey dey short oil from their useless factory come full market.

To start with the issue of solving the oil consumption has to be solved. Using 20w50 oil in my opinion does not solve that problem......... I really doubt that car lasted that long with so many miles grin with 240k miles the car is finish now grin with bad road and Uber driving again grin .....come on behave urself ......

Before that car reaches over 100k miles , it will be smoking all manners of smoke now grin white smoke gray smoke...

Modify..... I just check your profile. You have deleted all your topics grin or anything that might identify you. There is no number to contact etc grin wetin you dey hide.......

Please kindly show us this your camry .. With the mileage ...... grin . na so I ask Bazz001 to show us his low mileage camry.. Till today we no see picture grin abi the 240k mileage camry catch fire grin abi it is smoking white smoke grin
So you believe you cannot be wrong? I'm telling you from first hand experience and you keep disagreeing when you have not even used the car before.
Send your trusted sombori to come and see the kind of smoke that is coming out since you're so sure it's smoking grin and also check the mileage

You said I deleted my topics, well I don't have any topic and I have nothing to hide. I will give you my number if you ask. You got nothing on me bro cool

We know that the engine burns oil but that's not the point here, I just want you to know that the engine can still last for years and not few months as you're making people who have not used it believe.
I use mine for uber as well and I've covered over 100k miles since I bought it. Current mileage is around 240k so as long as you change your oil as at when due then the engine will serve you better.
20w50 is not a death sentence to this generation of engines, maybe it may not last as long as if you use 5w30 synthetic but that doesn't mean it will not last. Infact people should worry more about the body of the car especially in this lagos because that engine will still outlast the body grin

Thumbs up... This is the point I was trying to make folks realize. Traffic conditions in Lagos metropolis is detrimental to life span of the Engine, so whether you like it or not, the engine wears out gradually. You can only prolonged it a bit through adequate maintenance and repairs.

Good morning to my Ogas them!
Please advice... I got an offer of HP for NISSAN VERSA 2009. Pls i want to know if the car is okay for the E-hailing business.

It’s okay in my estimation in terms of fuel consumption. Other than that, I really don’t know about how cheap & readily accessible its parts are.

Over to the car gurus in the house..

Care to share the full terms of the HP?

But since u r insisting there are major differences, would u be kind to educate us by highlighting the specific difference u r referring to that makes u decide to adjust to 20w50 because of Nigerian conditions

But d fuel economy is comparable to Corolla and Civic

Where should I be if I dropped someone here from airport?

Meanwhile, your response didn't solve anything. A polite and good response would have been: "You won't get rides at that place by that time, you should move to so so so place"!

The way you guys respond to each other is the reason you quarrel and fight over nothing!

Have a great day!

Some responses suggest an answer already. You're at the right place (for e-hailing) but the timing is wrong (On a Monday morning). That place is only appropriate on weekends and maybe some week nights, say from Wednesday.

Strategic positioning is quite important and cannot be over emphasized.

Weekday mornings, find your way to residential areas and set destination for a long distance trip, probably from Ikeja, you could input Chevron/Ajah as your destination, that way, you're sure to get a long distance trip.

You need to be strategic to make the most of your day, especially on Monday mornings, first Monday for that matter.

This is one of the best Mondays to hit target easily, as most corporate riders/salary earners have enough cash within this period, all the way till the end of the first week. You may think it's past resumption time and most persons are at their various places work already, but the truth is, some riders may have an appointment on the island, set for that time, and you can only find such riders in residential areas. You easily could have driven towards Agidingbi, Adeniyi Jones, Ogba and other residential places around that neighborhood. The amount of fuel you would burn is negligible compared to the profit you'd make (when you eventually get a trip) or the loss you'd incur (wasting time at the mall).

My opinion though. smiley

If you use recommended oil and don't change as at when due, your engine will die quicker than if you use non-recommended but still compatible oil and change as at when due.
The emphasis should be more on changing oil as at when due

It's great... No issues so far.

I'm eyeing that ride, it's very reliable. I've spent weeks researching about it.

I don't know what's special about corolla/camry that Nigerians overhyped those empty cartons with numerous factory defects.

Input corolla or camry on that site and see the rain of problems they have.

Well my car is not "factory reject oil sipping limca lemon camry" because if it is I would have sold it off. I've made more than double the cost price and I will still sell it at the same amount I bought it 3 years ago thanks to bubu. But the car is still serving me like it did on day 1 so our relationship is still intact.

I can boldly tell you that this 3 years old camry of mine is still worth more than majority of your tokunbo civics cool

Better to buy Innonson Motors.... Made by a Nigerian for Nigerians .. It is compatible with our terrain, weather and maintenance culture ... No need of changing oyel or worrying about whether na manual compressor or automatic .. No need to convert from right hand to left hand drive.........

I keep wondering why this oil battle keeps popping up every other time.
Can't one use the oil they feel is affordable or reliable?

Everytime, this oil is bad.. That oil is good...

For heavens sake, use the oil you feel is beneficial to your engine and pocket..
