I just want to ask, must there be wall tiles in the kitchen wall to wall?

I ask because recent samples of kitchens that I've seen and intend to copy don't really have wall tiles.

Again, what's the consequence of not tiling the kitchen walls wall to wall.

Another thing is the kitchen cabinets covered almost 70 percent of the wall… the tiles at the back of the cabinet is a waste to me… #personal Opinion though

I contacted Mr Agbaje ( SKUP008 as Monika) on 1st September 2020 after viewing his thread and works on Nairaland. He was contacted to do a decorative stamped floor for my house in my hometown

Due to my experiences, I ensured we had a written signed agreement stating all his verbal promises including a ONE YEAR WARRANTY on the floor job stated before I gave him the contract

I kept to my financial obligations. Skup008 did his own part but before the job warranty date elapses, the floor started falling apart, cracking in multiple places

Gently, I contacted him about the issues with his works, initially he denied it was out of the warranty period , I refreshed his memories with our conversations on WhatsApp and the written agreement ( Thank God for experiences with dubious artisans) . He chilled and called these floor cracks “ expansion “ , which he said, was normal with all stamped floors . I disagreed with that fact and refused to be bamboozled by the use of a deluded terminology

I told him that I have seen stamped floors of more than 5yrs old with no such issue so I believe the multiple cracks are due to the shitty job he did and he has to come and repair it as per our written agreement. It is TIME that differentiate between a good job and a bad one

Later, he sent me a long list of materials to buy including paying for transportation for two people to come and rectify this issue… I declined spending a kobo more, after millions of Naira was paid initially for this job

As expected with arrogant and fraudulent artisans, he decided not to respond to my messages again, prompting me to commence my action from the forum I met him

I just wanna use this medium, that I met him , to warm potential clients to be very careful dealing with him so that they do not fall into wrong hands as I did

if I may ask… What’s your soil nature? Did he cast the floor with iron?

I am not a specialist in this area so I may not be able to respond well to your question… this is the reason I contracted the Job to Mr Agbaje, who called himself “specialist “

Hopefully if he sees this thread, he would come down from his high horse and arrogance to respond to u

I just thank God I only gave him this small contract first, to test the water ….I was even telling him of a bigger contract in Lagos if this initial one was done well .. but God has saved me from bigger loss

Am happy, knowing that am not alone. Few weeks back we had this argument about tilling the whole kitchen wall, everyone I asked, told me that's how it's been done. I said why would I spend so much money to tile the whole area and then later cover it with cabinets. I told them to do what I wanted after all my current house does not have tiles all over the kitchen walls.

The design is good, rooms were properly planned and ventilated, however i have a problem with the lobby is long and no natural lighting there, so if doors are closed one would go blind by day, the window placement wouldn't be great if you would want to use beds with headboard. Also i feel there's a way the guest room can be cross ventilated, why would he place a shoe rack in that dark lobby, is it for that room or for everyone hmmmm

The only area u might need wall tiles in your kitchen are both where you have your kitchen sink and your cooker to avoid backsplash of water or your ororo while cooking however other materials can suffice like using glossy/ silk or other cleanable paints, polished woods et all.

If you guys remember way back, we had this discussion. I never do the full Tile thing in any of my building. Its nothing but a waste. The theory was that Tenant will not rent for market price if not done fully.

Well, i experimented and guess what? Going over three years now and 100% occupancy and not a single tenant complained yet. Also, the Rood type, the POP, and Screeding myth; Didn't make much difference. The ONLY thing the tenants are looking for is CLEANLINESS, and Generous Landlord( Big Space).

But to be fair though, on a PRIVATE HOME, all these DO make a lot of sense. MHO
