In all fairness, if the next president should come from the south, the Igbos should have it. However, Igbos are not making any efforts towards achieving that. They're all waiting for the presidency to be handed on to them on a platter after being sidelined for too long. Many are calling for the ruling party to zone the presidency to the south east- we all know this is dead on arrival. Let's look at it from this perspective, if APC zones the ticket to the south east and the the PDP zones the ticket to let's say the north central, do you think the current Igbo politicians we have in the APC will be able to pull the required votes needed to beat a northerner at the polls? Rather than calling out the ruling party to zone the presidential ticket to the south, Igbos should ensure that the PDP fields an Igbo for the 2023 election. And maybe in the spirit of the much touted southern unity, other regions can canvass for a politician from the south east extraction to contest under the banner of the APC, leaving us with two Igbo contenders in the major political parties just like 1999; Obj and Falae. This is the only feasible way an Igbo can become a president in 2023. But, can Igbo politicians in the PDP muster enough courage to wrestle power from the Fulanis? the current reality says otherwise. Meanwhile, if the APC would field a southerner In the 2023 election, it would be between the S/W and S/S not because of anything but because none of the two major parties is willing to risk losing the election by giving their tickets to an Igbo politician with no political weight and popularity. This is just my opinion though. 4 Likes |

Igbo presidency is only alternative, the same way it was done to install Obasanjo, the same should be done to install an Igbo man as the president come 2023. Obasanjo was handed the presidency not because he campaigned for it but simply to appease the Yoruba. Unfortunately the major campaign against the Igbo presidency is being strongly spearheaded by the south west. This is not good at all 7 Likes 3 Shares |

oldsage: Keep muddling the facts.. Facts remains that nobody fought for the presidency of this country cleanly and without bitterness like Alex Ekwueme who led the group of politicians that walked into aso Rock to challenge Abacha, but you guys rubbished him twice! Chuba Okadigbo nko? Chu Okongwu, the renowned economist, together with Kalu Idika Kalu, but you guys ruined their efforts. Ike Nwachukwu fought on the Nigerian side during the war. Dude thought that was enough to ingratiate him to the greater Nigerians, so he threw his hat into the ring and contested. You messed him up. Ditto Ebutu Ukiwe, the incorruptible navy officer who would rather leave the Army than work for a corrupt Babangida.. How about the two erudite Muoghalus? Or is it Rochas Okorocha and Orji Kalu, two unabashedly pro Nigeria igbos whose efforts have been rubbished beyond measure by The Lagos-Ibadam expressway press houses and the northern political establishment with their "born to rule" beliefs. Arthur Nzeribe , Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Okwesilieze and Nnia Nwodo them.. Name any Igbo politician who hasn't stretched himself beyond measure to contest for the presidency but will always be mocked with different kinds of treacherous write ups like this... You guys have sworn there will be no Igbo president. And we have sworn there will be no zoo! That's where we are right now and that has nothing to do with the igbos not putting enough efforts. It has everything to do with Nigerias hatred and fear of the igbos.. 13 Likes 4 Shares |

Ovamboland: He just slammed you wicked history revisionists with hard facts and that's all the response you could come up with. Igbos are tired of nation building. Let us follow other tribes and do the madness. You westerners lack shame. 8 yrs as president, another 8 years as vice and you still want to take another 8 years as president. Then somehow, you expect no response. Show me just one yoruba politician that can untie the shoe lace of Alex Ekwueme as at the time he was denied the presidency in other to appease the Yorubas because of June 12. Today, all we hear is that Igbos don't know how to play politics. Because we play the politics of live and let's live, justice, equity and fairness which are the core traditional Igbo republican values. You guys should stop speaking grammar, go ahead with your ambition while Igbos go ahead with their right to selfdetermination. Nonsense! 3 Likes 3 Shares |

Unik3030: OBJ was handed the presidency ON A PLATTER. yorubaman was OBJ campaigning and working hard for his election while in prison? You yorubas always think you have a monopoly of craftiness and smartness. The only time a yoruba man was ever elected to become president was when 200 tribes in Nigeria agreed to allow two yorubas contest on the two major parties in the spirit of fairness and equity to ensure a yorubaman emerges as president heads or tail. How many 'bridges' did OBJ build to merit the presidency, how many 'bridges' did your ethnic choice Olu Falae build to merit the presidency? None! So why are giving us a lecture on what you never practiced? And it is noteworthy to mention that this happened after the yoruba OPC militia led by Gani Adams and Federick Fasehun had wrecked havoc on inhabitants of yorubaland, promoting violence and agitating to be assuaged over the MKO abiola june 12 saga. Anyway, enough of the preaching. Since you don't believe in fairness and equity for the East, after asking and getting same in 1999. Left for yorubas, the North and SW should relay the power baton between themselves while you mock Igbo and give stupid empty hypocritical lectures. You enjoy seeing Ndigbo suffer politically. It is now very clear. We have already told you what we are going to do. If APC gives the SW the ticket, just get ready to face the North/East in PDP. The same propaganda campaign you are hoping to use against an Eastern candidate that you prefer to face at the polls will be deployed against you. We are not fools. 1 Like 1 Share |

Secondly, when trust is the topic of discussion, should a south-western man join the discussion? owobokiri: See childish rants, which politician all over the country has not been mocked by the press? So only Ibo politicians will start sulking because of that? So when Ibo emerge as first VC or head of CDC or any other agency, you don't know there are people from 499 other ethnic groups that wished to occupy same position? There have been 13 governments since independence in 1960 and Igbo has led one or been deputy in about 3 of these governments. Some large ethnic groups have never held any of these positions and are still competing to emerge. It's childish to complain when you fail in a competition and accept the results only when you win |

gwafaeziokwu: After fighting against June 12 tooth and nail, been used by Fulani to obtain court judgement to annual the election, it has not delivered the presidency you covet so much to any of you. Now it's a national holiday you must all observe whether you liked it or not. You only wasted your time fighting it as it only produced another Yoruba as president and about to produce another one before any ibo can taste the position. It's a pity you can't see the end result from the beginning, you just start striking without thinking. You believe thinking is cowardice right? |
