I dont think it's right for your landlord to break into your apartment but owing almost a year is bad.

If you locked your house for over a year that means you haven't been living in the apartment why not vacate and allow the landlord to take possession of his property instead of accumulating a debt you can't pay.

Anyways you can seek redress through a lawyer and you will have to pay what you are owing him.

the best thing your landlord should have done is to approach a lawyer and charge you to court , you will be served owners intention to recover possession. so the court will eventually eject you and asked yo to pay all the rent you owed in areas.

there was this lady that did as your landlord had done, she was sent to one year imprisonment. So no one is above the law

Even with a quite notice, a court Ballif is the only person permitted to do so with a court order.

Bro the law is definitely on your side, infact what he has done is trespass and you can sue him.

even if you owed him 3 years rent, he ought to do it the legal way, by serving the statutory notices on you and after that, he can then file an action in court for recovery of premises.

It is only the court that has powers to order its officials (bailiffs) to break in your house and move out your properties upon evidence that you have been served the two notice and you refused to pay or move out.

Except your landlord have served you notice prior to this time of not the law is against him. You can sue him for a lot of money missing in your apartment. There is no law that gives him the right to break your apartment without a proper court jurisdiction. You have a case against him, that's why he is denying that he never broke into your apartment.

Simply just obtain a police report and proceed to court. Even though you owe him, he should have obtained an eviction order from the court. He has broken the law. If you don't sue him, he will do it again. We are not in a jungle, there's a due process for everything. Being owed is not a reason to act outside the ambit of the law. Also, don't allow anyone harass you. Going by the ACJA 2015, police should not interfere in civil matters such as this. Indebtedness is not a criminal offence. The reason why you are reporting to the police is because a criminal offence has being committed by your landlord i.e obtaining your asset without your notive (a.k.a stealing).

Make sure you pay your rent too. All the best.
