Yes I think Kenya has nearly met all the preconditions for take off. 1) Demographics - Kenya demographic started it's transition in 2016 or about. The current 10-14 are the most popolous - while next two cohorts have been declining. This is nationally - in places like your central kenya - this long happened. The demographic dividend means having more working population and less dependants - this lead to more wealth creation/savings - that scale nationally. Kenya is about 5yrs from entering that phase..investment in population control (kenya has africa highest contraceptive usage) are starting to pay. 2) Human Capital - Kenya has Africa highest HCI. Kenya historically had quality education but health has been lacking behind. The 1990s-2000s HIV-AIDs basically ravaged kenyans but all that is now behind us. Once the universal health care through compulsory basic insurance is fully implemented we would have nailed this. On education - the shift from university education to vocational training - has started. 3) Basic Infrastructure - Kenya basic infrastructure has tremendously improved the last 15yrs. The roads, the railways, the electricity, sewage, water -are now everywhere - except small pockets up the northern kenya. We need to get LAPSET corridor done - and the entire country will be unlocked. 4) Governance - New constitution (COK 2010) with independent judiciary and devolution - has proven itself. Kenya became 1st African country to annual a sitting president election. Attempts to mutilate it through BBI thwarted in also an historic ruling that got global attention for it's intellectual depth and rigors. Judiciary are also starting to deal with corruption firmly - although cases still take long. It a shame police reforms became stillborn and whilst Police/DPP/EACC are independent - unlike judiciary they have surrendered their independence to the executive. But COk2010 if fully implemented - is a modern constitution that set us on a solid framework for law and order. We need to fix police and it's corruption pronto. Once those four pre-condition have bee met - roughly we are five years from getting there - kenya economy will take off. Industrialization will happen...already there is a thriving nascent cottage industry starting to form. FDI will flow. And within 20 yrs - kenya will be a developed country - something South African has failed to become - having fallen to the middle class trap (thanks to poor investment in HCI due to apartheid and mishandling HIV-AIDS under horrible Mbeki leadership) kikuyu33: 1 Like |

The Second Niger Bridge Project 70% completed (will be delivered in the year 2022), this project alone is bigger than any projects ever embarked on by Kenya The Second Niger Bridge is a key national infrastructure, with immense socio-economic benefits for the contiguous states and indeed the entire nation. Upon completion, the bridge will ease traffic flow, improve road safety, and create greater opportunities for local residents by advancing the commercial viability of the immediate area and regenerating economic life. The scope of works include the construction of 1.6 km long bridge, 10.3 km Highway, Owerri interchange and a toll station for the first phase https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJZfuaqqRqI 3 Likes

popizaino:there was no house even at that time without toilet... Massive rural migration in the late 90s is what brought those nonsense as people were scrambling for places in Accra. Anyway when I find that documentary again, I will send it to you. Seems you want to clear your eye top. It should be on YouTube or in their broadcasting archives... 3 Likes |
