Igbos Should Produce Buhari’s Successor - Lagos Catholic Archbishop by Nemere2020: 12:49pm On Oct 16, 2021
The Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Alfred Adewale-Martins says the South-East should produce President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor in 2023.

The cleric spoke at the weekend during the 2021 Catholic Women Organisation of Nigeria (CWON) meeting in Lagos.

Adewale-Martins said an Igbo becoming the country’s leader would amount to equity and justice.

The archbishop noted that other zones have occupied the number one position except the South-East.

He said true federalism would resolve the unending agitations for self-actualisation by ethnic nationalities.

Adewale-Martins insisted that the system of government Nigeria’s founding fathers wanted is not being practiced.

“The disenchantment of the citizens speaks volume of our dysfunctional system of federalism laced with the Nigerian factor as against the true practice,” NAN quoted him as saying.

The Archbishop lamented that many innocent people have been killed due to disunity and imbalance.

Charging women and youths to use their numbers to make a difference, Adewale-Martins urged stakeholders to always ensure “good persons” emerge as flagbearers.

Presidency should be rotated among the 6 geopolitical zones in the spirit of fairness, equity & justice.
But it is better to strip the Presidency of major powers and devolve same to the regions in a regional government.

Not just any Igbo but someone who was tested and trusted!

Only those who want to divide this country thinks otherwise!

An Igbo must serve for uninterrupted 8years!

No to zoning. Let the best man take the job. And that person is none other than Atiku Abubakar if we have to be sincere.

Meanwhile, Pastor Bakare thinks otherwise after visiting Buhari and suddenly changing side. I wouldn't be surprised if APC imposes a northerner with a Yoruba pastor as his vice on Nigerians in 2023 by force. Until Nigerians start saying and acting on the truth like this Catholic bishop, this country would only get worse.

If there is any zone which ought to be produce president for the sack of equity and natural injustice it will be Igbos.

But since Nigeria is a country where greedy led by Fulani cabals is the order of the day, just expect Fulani to produce the next president.

By the I support Igbo president as long as it's not Orji Kalu, Rochas, Uzodinma or any past present governor of Abia state

Talking about the popularity of Tinubu in Nigeria political space, which Igbo man would you suggest that can match Tinubu's influence or win him in a head to head contest?

Ibos should meet and hold PDP for presidential ticket if they ever want to be president. Afterall they don't allow other tribes contest presidency under APGA and they had four good years under their son Goodluck Azikiwe Jonathan.

Edo no be Lagos na, abi una don forget? Ibos reject amala and ewedu muslim party. Awon oniyeye

Thank God Bishop Adewale Martins is Yoruba.

If he was Igbo, they’d say he’s fostering the agenda of his kinsmen.

The discussion is on...

I expect more opinion shapers to join in calling for Igbo presidency.

I’m not a prophet but I foresee the kind of 1999 deal where Yoruba men were candidates of the major parties. In 2023, Igbo men might end up becoming the candidates of both APC and PDP.

It has become imperative if we are serious about national cohesion, equity and justice.

Give an Igbo man the presidency and watch these senseless agitations die a natural death.

But trust me, Nigeria will be hanging on a cliff if by 2023 Igbos are schemed out again; not for lack of capacity but by sheer sentiments and baseless suspicions.

Gov. Dave Umahi is the most qualified candidate from the Igbo extraction to be the Nigeria president.
His Nationalistic disposition is unrivalled and his antecedent as a public servant is undisputable.

We don't any snake in the monkey shadow like Saint Obi of the Pandora memory.
Re: Igbos Should Produce Buhari’s Successor - Lagos Catholic Archbishop by Igboid: 3:05pm On Oct 16, 2021
Of course it's the right thing to do.

Umahi for APC and Obi for PDP.

Then Nigerians can choose between both of them.
There are no human resources anywhere else in Nigeria better than both men I listed up there. They only have equals and not superiors.

So the question of having a credible Igbo candidate should be out of it. grin

The same Umahi that openly opposed VAT collection by States in South with his kindergarten theory of economics is who you think Southerners will vote for?

Someone that has not become president that is already anti-South, what will happen if he becomes president? he'll tell us RUGA is good and then force it on the entire country but won't see anything wrong with Kano destroying beer and other alcoholic beverages.

Igbos will not be given the Presidency as a gift. They should come out and fight for it.

Currently, no serious politician from the East has come out to present himself.

When Tinubu is playing politics we all know that

I don't know the motive, but I think Arch. Bishop Adewale Martins is just saying this to please his audience who are mainly Igbos.

You can count the number of Yorubas in Catholic Churches in Lagos. In fact, most of them are in Pentecostal churches and the rest are Muslims.

The last time ibo was in charge of Nigeria, our leaders were begging for existence. Every time Yoruba try to play fair while other tribe play foul all the time
