vaxx: What Accra has over this places is just PR or else Accra would struggle to meet up with Lome self, talk more of Lagos and Abidjan. Outside the tiny Airport area down to cantoment the majority of the whole accra is what one could easily described as a slumpolis. Accra that is like market centre, dust everywhere as if it's a mining town. 2 Likes |

popizaino:this is intended to redicule the city . Anyway it is not true, east legon, west legon , abelekmpe, roman ridge , tressaco and some I can't easily remember upfront are considerably to any developed City.( They are not cantonment or airport city) And I can tell you , you will have to be well loaded to live in those areas . Abidjan and Lagos as you are trying to project as nothing over Accra apart from the vast presence of commerce in Lagos which was a result of population . As for Togo, lome is not doing bad lately, until it cashed up with northern Ghana capital Tamali then I will consider your seriousness. 2 Likes |

Just30: If only this current useless Government would invest in the transport sector in Accra, Tema, and Kumasi the Traffic situation would be much better we need Serious BRT system Skytrain/monorail/Underground trains wateva The traffic situation in Accra, Tema and Kumasi cities is so so annoying |
Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by Just30: 5:25pm On Oct 16, 2021 |
vankelvin:They are but it hasn't solved it... Tema does not have traffic...The motorway has.... The problem is, every year, car ownership increase by a massive number as young people join the middle class... But the roads can't widen up.. The demographic of people owning cars current are not the ones who are willing to park their cars and join public transport... Moving around with public transport is super expensive.. An in and out journey from Kasoa to Tema cost 30 cedis. Meanwhile if I move my car, a journey like that is convenient and will only cost me less than 70 for fuel... My young sis spend 25 cedis a day in and out to UPSA... So I will most definitely use my car to drop her off when ever I'm around because it is cost effective and convenient.. BRT, monorail, Sky train and etc will not solve that unless they are willing to drop fares below... They won't be able to drop fares because transport unions will protest and sue on unfair practice grounds. Now tell me which you prefer .... |

vaxx: No one is ridiculing Accra and I won't deny the city hasn't seen a lot of development in recent years but to say it is more developed than her counterparts in the sub region is disingenuous itself. The dust and general unorganised nature of the city itself will always give it away. Accra is only hyped as been developed by Ghanaians themselves or foreigners who haven't taken time to visit other African countries, but the moment they do, all this hype begin to fade away and I have seen this play out so many times on comment sections of most blogs and videos.Until Accra begin to flush those informal trading that is seen at every nook and cranny of the city and put measures on zoning, paving of inner roads it will always be playing catch up to Lagos and Abidjan. 2 Likes |

Just30: The boldened, it surely will. Effective train system will reduce traffic in these cities. Did I hear you say there's no traffic in Tema? You don't mean it. Tema-Dorwenya traffic is always terrible. Car ownership will increase every year so we need an effective public transport system which can transport many people as possible to their destinations. |

vankelvin:Dorwenya is outside Tema We already have public transport system and it's effective.. The problem is, no one wants to be inconvenienced. Public transport inconvenience people and no one currently wants that.... You can go and listen to why people stopped parking their cars at the Achimota transport yard and joining Aayalolo buses. They said it was inconveniencing them because it wasn't dropping them Infront of their offices.. Hence they had to walk a kilometer or 2 |

popizaino:Also avoid going into Accra on a Saturday After morning.. My brother left Nungua at 4pm in is own car and hot to Kasoa at 8pm on a Friday last week... Using Spintex Anyway I must add, the Spintex 10 lanes road under construction is 50% complete. And also, the 27Km Tema Nungua 10 lanes beach road is 20 to 30% complete. Soon, the 26Km motorway expansion will start to remove the current motorway traffic.. Also, the expansion of your road that you currently use, all the way to Pokuasi will start next year.. It will start from where the current 10 or 14 lanes road converts into a 4 lanes Highway |

My take on this issue. Per the little I know, cities in West Africa in the 70's to the early 90's were not that great nor bad either. Surely Abidjan and Dakar were up there(All thanks to France). Lagos just as Accra were okay. Non was super nor above the other. Lagos City transformation started under Governor Babatunde Fashola in the 2000's and Lagos has developed into what it is today. Abidjan and Dakar on the other hand have not seen much development like it did in the 80's and 90's. If you compare these two Francophone cities of 90's and 2021 to Accra and Lagos of 90's and 2021, it's only a desperate i^dio^t(an asylum seeker) who has no hope for his fatherland, who lives in another man's country will say Abidjan and Dakar are developed than Accra. Maybe you want to compare their old infrastructures to the modern infrastructures of Accra. If it's about city planning, my answer will always be the same, Accra planning isnt that great, but for development! unless you are blind and a hater. 1 Like |

popizaino: You are a certified i^diot. How do you compare these old towers to the infrastructures in Accra? Let's help you here.. Infrastructure vrs infrastructure, let's compare Accra to Abidjan. From Road Health Communities Market, school, water, electricity, etc. Let's pick it one after the other and let's see how Abidjan fares against Accra.. At your age you still think infrastructure is all about high rise buildings? Olosho 1 Like |

Just30: I said Tema to Dorwenya road. The traffic starts from the new Tema Interchange area through Dorwenya and ends at Prampram junction. I use that road often so I know what I'm talking about.. The traffic situation there is terrible |
Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by Just30: 6:14pm On Oct 16, 2021 |
vankelvin:The traffic starts outside of Tema... Just after we're the road narrows... That area has some of the worse traffic in Accra .. Has the expansion begun ? |

popizaino:informal sector is an anchor of development in west africa state and it is presence in every part of west africa including cape verde which might be considered most developed west africa state . I will not say Accra is better than Lagos neither will I say Lagos is better than Accra but indeed at this time, private sector are actually doing well in Accra , and the real estate development is catching up comparable to many africa city. Per development, Accra has supercede Abidjan long time ago. By fitchratings, the construction and industry value of Ghana is currently worth 9billion and that of ivory coast is around 5 billion dollar. Per capital wise , Ghana even did well than both Nigeria and kenya which are 55 and 10 billion respectively. Informal sector in Ghana has come to stay as it is seen as one of the most effective way to relax extreme hunger and poverty. Government should rather developed a framework that will help in developing informal market so that both employee and employer can be carry along in the development of the country and again , the kind of informal market established in Kumasi is also needed in Accra . Four of it in Accra and two in Kumasi can be very interesting. Construction Industry and Value Nigeria - $55 billion Ghana - $9 billion Ivory Coast - $5 billion Kenya - $10 billion Ethiopia - $26 billion Source: @FitchRatings This is kejetia market in Kumasi . It is purely informal. Likewise , I agree with you on the paving of inner roads . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sod3tYI-fEM 2 Likes |

vankelvin:As more and more people are building in Dawhenya and Prampram , that road traffic will only get worse until the road is completely expanded.. |
Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by vankelvin: 6:34pm On Oct 16, 2021 |
Just30: Hope they start the expansion works soon cos the traffic situation from the Tema stretch through Dorwenya is so bad |
Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by Just30: 6:38pm On Oct 16, 2021 |
vankelvin:it is good that the state is focus of expanding all the Accra outskirt roads Because of how expansive all those outskirt communities have become.. Now it seems the most road projects are happening in Kumasi because it's satellite communities have also grown massively. |

You ever heard the expression, “Monkey no fine, but e fine for him mama?”. I have traveled around the world. I currently live in Accra. I’ve lived in other cities, including Abuja. One thing I will tell you for free is that Accra is a nice city. Just like most cities around the world, Accra has its beautiful parts and ugly parts. You can find that in every city. In Abuja there are places that are a complete eyesore, just like parts of Accra and nairobi. For me it is childish to talk about fine cities when a country is mired in poverty, unemployment,violenc3, corruption etc etc. Oslo for example is not a mightily “beautiful “ city, but most of you will die to live in Oslo. Personally, I prefer a livable city. A city where things work. A city where security is a priority. A city that boasts of regular electricity a city where moving around is impossible. your country should not build houses that are more than three story buildings. Where is the electricity to power lifts? popizaino: 4 Likes |
