But you've been running around with projected growth of 5 percent. IMF normally release projection in April and October. This was released a few days ago...while you were busy hunting for protein. South Africa is going to play around 300-400B - I dont know why you're excited - the commodities are up - next year - we shall see you back in 300B. The same with Nigeria - Oil prices if they drop - their GDP drops. Nigeria is oil dependant - South Africa is middle class rut - it been there the last almost 20yrs. Kenya is making sustainable move FORWARD. jl115: 1 Like |

Post apertheid there was growth - until 2010 - and it's been a mess since. I think it's structural middle class rut like you find in Latin America. Mauritus has escaped it and become Africa's only DEVELOPED Country. You think it's Zuma cooling his heels in prison. I think it's deeper than that. jl115: 1 Like |

If you're interested in hunting the truth like yours truly rather than hunting squierels for dinner...here is how it went down. The genesis is 2009 census - some northern counties in kenya tried to pull a Nigeria - they inflated their population. The statistics body cancelled and corrected them. They went to court and they won. So offically kenya population was inflated...but in 2019 - new measures were introduced to prevent a Nigeria. Most who did the projection using the earlier figures have kenya population figures inflated. Court declares disputed 2009 census results valid from 8 sub-counties in Mandera and Garissa counties https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/counties/article/2000202590/court-declares-disputed-2009-census-results-valid jl115: 1 Like |

Kenya GDP over the last 20yrs has grown 9 times. South Africa 3 times. The last 10yrs is even more dramatic. South Africa has basically been struck. Kenya GDP has almost trippled. Kenya growth is not mineral driven (therefore not subject to cyclic commodity bust-booms), is broad based and therefore sustainable. South Africa is in middle class trap - you should go to Latin America - and find out why Mexico or Brazil despite being near US - has been stuck - and why only CHile and Argentina made it. Facts is not popularity contest. I see you desperatly liking your own innane posts. It hilarious. The substance or the soundness of your argument should be apparent. You got what two tabs - one to write the nonsense - and one to like them Then sometimes your Ghanians engage in orgy of liking each other posts - like it's a substitute for facts. Just30: 2 Likes |
