When we they wanted to secede to Somali - there were so massacres - and of course dealing with their Islamic terror - sometimes KDF has to engage in scorch earth policy. But now they are Kenya Somalis are very happy they never secede because Somalia is a hell on earth.

How do you steal from a Somali? They run family based business. Unless you mean Kenya police shaking bribes from foreigners - majority who are Somalis. The Kenya police knows those who are non-kenya by simply checking immunization mark or speaking swahili.

Once a company has succeeded in kenya brutal competitive open market economy - you can succeed almost everywhere - except maybe Nigeria. That a whole of chaos I doubt even kenyans in their ingenuity will survive that. Definitely Somalis will hack it - Somalis have absolutely no fear of anything - they will go where no one will go - and so are Eritreas.

As long as a Somali has Khat..he is set...can go anywhere...Kenya avoid war torn countries..Somalis, Ethiopians and Eritreans have no such fears.

Every index that ranks infrastructure puts the US way above China......its not even close in fact. Now you can call it western propaganda or whatever but I don't give a fvck about your conspiracy theories.... Give me sources not your delusional opinions.

And yes there are many reports stating how Nigeria's(and the rest of Africa for that matter) infrastructure will not keep up with its population growth in the future.... SA does not have that problem since our population growth is actually very slow.
Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by Mkenya2019: 7:34am On Oct 19, 2021
I believe China has probably overtaken US in most infrastructure. Which index is that say it's not even close? US infrastructure is crumbling and that is why Biden want to invest a trillion dollars to fix it.

Again SA infrastructure - is not all that great. With only 30 percent paved road network - even Kenya can reach there within a decade. Maybe the rail network is harder to replicate...but others like water, sewage, broadband, electricity - are easy for any serious country to close the deficit.

Also remember if you do not replace or maintain the roads - they will crumble - every 20yrs (lifespan of a paved road) - therefore a broke south african may not be able to maintain their paved network going forward.

Neither of this is a measure of infrastructure. I think you should concentrate on hunting.
LPI - Logistic is not infrastructure.
Global competitive - WEF - those are just surveys.
I thought you had hardware (not software) index of hardware.

Paved roads crumble if not well maintained. This not something that you do and forget about it.

Boer, concentrate on hunting morsels for dinner, otherwise China infrastructure I believe is now miles ahead.

LPI has nothing to do with Infrastructure

The logistics performance (LPI) is the weighted average of the country scores on six key dimensions:[3]

The efficiency of the clearance process (i.e; speed, simplicity and predictability of formalities) by border control agencies, including customs.
Quality of trade and transport-related infrastructure (e.g., ports, railroads, roads, information technology);
Ease of arranging competitively priced shipments;
Competence and quality of logistics services (e.g., transport operators, customs brokers);
Ability to track and trace consignments;
Timeliness of shipments in reaching the destination within the scheduled or expected delivery time

exactly

you're correct

but I doubt that you've met any Yoruba

but most Yoruba are still far lighter than Kenyans though

Actually the Yorubas have seen are very dark..Most of west africa is very dark ..IIgbos look alittle bit like Bantus...but Yorubas remind me of Nilotes..In Kenya the Nilotes are the very dark an the one you see in Tv doing sport an stuff.

kenya is a very mixed country...Nilotes (immigrated from northern sudan),bantus (there is a debate about their origin grin ) then cushites ,arabs an semites...different tones here..

But yorubas seem to be alittle educated than igbos..My personal take here cheesy

Bythe way have met a Yoruba,couple of igbos even got two Fulani peeps...just saying ..An yes Nigeria is one divided country...Everyone talks about his own people..Fulanis i met blame the southerners for spoiling the countr's image abroad...The igbos i met talk about their awesome tribe..their domiannce in Nollywood ..Yoruba guy was alittle bit sober...book like grin

Yoruba..

25 percent is small. Kenya in 70s and 80s use to spend 40 percent of it's budget on education - it was the world highest. Then IMF came with rubbish about SAP - and forced Kenya to severly cut back on social investment - and 1990s as you know became a lost decade. Then we restarted again free primary in 2003 - 25 percent was in 2005 - and it been dropping to now I think less than 20 percent - roughly 17-18 percent - as nonsensical expenditure on military and prov administration increase annually (it now almost equal education budget).

This explain kenya historically high quality education - other Africans were spending on military - to kill mostly their own citizens in coups and counter-coups.

He notes that fortunately that has not happened in
Kenya which spent at most 11.9, and 14.2 per cent on administration
and defence, respectively for the period of his study of 1964/65 to
1972/73. He, however notes that education is taking an
increasingly bigger share than any other sector. At most, 37 per
cent were spent on education and 17.9 per cent on economic
services.

I don't like seeing our economic chart for the 90s-FKN FLAT! Look at that ishyt: we entered 2002 with basically the same GDP OF 1990!? What if we we'd merely doubled our GDP per capita to a 1000$? We'd be at 5000 $! Though I don't blame Moi for some things like the SAPs and insist that given his exposure and education and history he was actually a reformer (careful,many people don't like hearing this!) whenever I rmbr the 90s I just SMFH.
Mzee,look closely at our geopolitical environment. There's almost always a mini insurgency or civil war on our borders. Many big global developments are happening here-that ICJ judgement didn't come from nowhere: is it wise to reduce military expenditure and risk ending up like Naij,underfunded,undertrained and underequipped trying to fight a war knowing Oyinbo tactics of proxy wars? Increasing KDF numbers was one of Moi's positive moves. In his time KDF size doubled.

The business scene in Nigeria is far from being chaotic. If not, how then do we have the likes of Mtn and Dstv doing well. Not to talk of companies like Nestle, Cadbury, Maersk, etc.

Kenya's weak firms can not survive in Nigeria because they'll be out muscled.
How can safaricom beat Glomobile or Mtn in Nigeria? Even your biggest bank is like our third or 4th largest bank. grin
Our construction companies win contracts in Kenya, etc. Your companies are too small to compete in Nigeria. Stick to Ethiopia and Zambia.

In fact quick search - on the downstream oil business I see many kenya companies expanding further south.

KenolKobil (although now subsidiary of French Rubis) -
KenolKobil's headquarters are in Nairobi, Kenya with subsidiaries in Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique, Rwanda, Uganda and Zambia

KenolKobil has got the nod to acquire a Zambian oil marketer, marking the second deal in under three months after it was last year bought by French multinational, Rubis Energie.

The firm has been cleared to acquire Samfuel Limited through its Zambian subsidiary, Kobil Zambia Limited.

2) Hass Petroleum -Hass Petroleum is a leading regional oil marketing company, incorporated in 1997 it has a significant presence in East, Central, and Horn of Africa. Countries with significant operations include Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Zambia, South Sudan, Somalia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

3)Alfa Energy has grown retail presence in all major towns in East & Central Africa. We also operate service stations in various African markets including Kenya, South Africa, Zambia and D.R.C.

4) Stabex International Limited is an independent oil marketing company, incorporated in 2009, with a significant presence in East and Central African regions. We are a renowned oil distributor with fully fledged operations in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, South Sudan, Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Tanzania's oil companies are also in Rwanda Kenya Zambia DRC Burundi etc
Nothing new,nothing special. Its a simple thing to do

Tanzania tried to run from EAC hoping to gain from South Africa - looked like they are struggling - on both ends now. With Afree Free Trade hopefully those borders can be unblocked - and some standards agreed upon.
Tz didn't run away from EAC,we are ruling the EAC.We did a trade war with Kenya and we won.We currently export more to Kenya than we import from them,and its the same figures are for our trade with Uganda,Rwanda,burundi,thanks to magufulis trade war. Now we will do the same to SA.

Tanzania is not the only one complaining. Zimbabwe Mozambique and Zambia are also complaining about the sadc free trade. It is good to know Tanzania is planting a lot of avocados because you have a lot of water especially in Lake Malawi and Lake Victoria. Avocados need a lot of water. Alright. Also it was the same thing with the cashews when South Africa was importing cashews from Brazil instead of buying it from Tanzania. I think in a sadc needs to be completely free movement of goods.
SADC has a clear policy on free movement of goods within a block.Many south African goods are trucked daily within the block,but its funny to see how the same south Africa which sells in SADC refuses others to sell to them.Selfishness,and fear of competition.
They sell us apples,but they refuse TZ avos! Very unfairly.
TZ,achimwenes,Zambia, changanis,shamwaris,etc, should start trade wars with SA. That's what Tz did to Kenya. when they refused our goods,we also blocked theirs until they surrendered and opened up.As of now,we sell more stuff to Kenya than what we import.

NB.Most avos are grown in the south west of Tz with hass being the most planted
