Ilsontof: Reaching out to your school because someone else got it is not a good idea. No one knows who qualifies or not, only the school. Even some Americans didn't get it. If the school says you don't qualify, there is nothing you can do about it. Others who got it didn't do anything or submitted anything other than their bank information. In Tennessee, we got ours in early September, Texas just getting theirs in October. If its something you qualify for, you will get a return when you file your taxes. Otherwise, do not bother yourself about it. 2 Likes |

seansifo: Below is a friend’s (NOT MINE) GRE success story, maybe it might help. “So I started preparing for my GRE for a long time oo... There would be a time I will be ready to write but couldn't afford the fee. So I don't know how long it took me to prepare but just know I had more than six months. I supposed to have written it on 24th of September, unfortunately there was little or no power supply at all in my area almost throughout the month, so I could not do all the practice tests and the revisions I had hope to do before the exam, I decided to move it to Oct 20th. Materials I used.... Quant 6 books of Manhattan (read them atleast twice) All the official guide guant ( I had the hard copy of the official guide second edition, so I read this one more than I can remember) Nova math Bible ( my spirit did not work well with this book honestly at the beginning it was cool, later I no come de understand anything for the book so I left it in peace) All magoosh videos including practice questions ( I watched some as many times as I needed) 5Ib Manhattan practice ( did not finish this book but took my time to go through explanations of both the questions I did and the ones I did not look at) For verbal All official guides GreMat ( subscribed for 4 months) All magoosh premium videos Magoosh 1000 words 333 high frequency words Kaplan RC Did about 5 practice test Kaplan Verbal 155 Quant 158 Princeton Verbal =164 Quant = 156 Manhattan Verbal = 160 Quant 162 Power prep2 Verbal 161 Quant = 160 The real exam was in form VQVQV GRE Raw score Verbal 169 Quant 166 My personal advise: I was never good at the beginning... I failed some basic questions in quant and verbal... In fact, sometimes I cried at my progress like I was forgetful.. but I kept pushing... Started studying at midnight and all.. I just want to say that with determination and God all things are possible. Keep pushing yourself.“ 4 Likes 3 Shares |

Good morning House Please I need an advice from the guru in the house. My visa was denied on 15th October 2021 in Lagos. I apply for undergraduate program with half scholarship. During my interview the VO asked for my Scholarship letter which I did not get that from the school. But I try to explain to VO that the Scholarship was written on the I-20. But I was denied. Immediately I got home I sent an email to the school DSO I’m in contact with. She now send me the Scholarship letter and I also request for a letter of support from the school to support for my new application. I will resume for spring 2022 in January. Now I want to reapply and book Abuja for my next interview. I used EA for my last Lagos interview. Any advice I will be appreciate @Fairheart Sir need you help ASAP 1 Like |

My story and transcript. I applied for a masters in accounting program at East Tennessee State University in 2019 and I abandoned it at some point because they asked me for Gmat or Gre test result. In early 2020 just before Covid I paid the application fee because they kept buzzing me with reminder emails that my application isn't completed but at this time I had submitted every document required including my OND and BSc transcripts on the schools portal excluding gre and English test. In July 2020 I got an email from the school that I have been granted a waiver for gre and English test as a result of covid because they don't except any physical exam to take place. I was supposed to resume in August 2020 but before then I was offered admission with an international merit scholarship which was a partial scholarship. In order to secure the admission I was asked to fill a form to request for my I20. On this form you will indicate your marital status and also indicate who your sponsor is whether self or someone else. At the time I was single and I was 28yrs but my girlfriend was 24 and we have dating for 5 years from Uni days as we were classmates. So, at the time I had no money and I spoke to a distant uncle and he helped me with a 3 months bank statement which covered the remaining tuition after deducting the scholarship. I gave him a form sent to me by the school for him to fill as a sponsor, so he did. After all this process, i sent the request for I20 form , the bank statement and the form filled by distant uncle to the school. A week later I got my I20 showing my distant uncles fund as sponsor and my personal fund section of the I20 was zero. Unfortunately, I could not pay SEVIS fee at the time because even the US embassy in Nigeria was still observing lockdown then I deferred to Jan 2021. Approaching Nov 2020, the school by themselves sent me an updated I20 the only difference was the date for my program start date and when I am expected to finish. Few weeks later, I realised I had no money to pursue it and moreso I just got a job where I was earning in dollars in Lagos, before then I was a contract staff at PwC but I started working there in 2014 as an intern doing my IT after my OND before going for my BSc. So I often comeback during holidays to continue work part time then return to school when we resume. So I decided to defer again to Jan 2022 and I was told that's the last chance I have, after that deferment won't be allowed. In July 2021, I messaged the school on what I need to do to get a new I20 and i was told I have to start the process of requesting for it again. I reached out to my distant uncle and he said he has used the cash. I was stunned then I restrategised and spoke with my CEO and he said no issue I should let him know when I need it. On the day of my traditional marriage, just after the ceremony my mind was on my application and the school had told me I can reapply from that same day (it was just coincidental) then on my way back home I just submitted everything again, bank statement (this time around my personal bank statement and my CEO) and I indicated that I am married. Few weeks later in September I got two i20s for my wife and I. Surprisingly, my distant uncles name was still there as my sponsor and not my CEO what I now noticed was that they added my personal money to the CEOs money and put it as my personal fund on my i20. I was really confused but I sha left it that way and I told myself I have to defend this at the embassy that I really have this funds. So I sent money to my friend in the US to pay for my SEVIS fee then 3 business days after paying, I paid for visa fee for my wife and I. Then I went ahead to fill the DS160 form for my wife and I. Filled the form myself an agent I told me to bring 15k, but I did myself. After filling the form I tried scheduling an interview but I was given August 2022 as the earliest appointment date, I chose it like that even though my program is starting in Jan 2022. Then after choosing the date I got a prompt that I can apply for emergency date so I filled the emergency request form and attached my I20 as support document and also explained why I needed an emergency date. While I was doing all of these I had someone lined up to help me with proof of fund for UK and i was about to pay 1 million naira to borrow 20 million for 30 days as I have also gotten admission in several UK schools against Jan 2022 just as a back up for US. The few weeks later after applying for the emergency date I September 2021 I got an email from the embassy given us October 15, 2021 as interview date in lagos, same agent had told me to bring 150k each for my wife and I to get interview date for the US embassy. Transcript VO: Please can you guys pass me your passport and I20s US: We did VO: Was just typing......for about 3 mins VO: What's your plan for your masters Me: I am going to East Tennessee State University...bla bla bla.. VO: That wasn't what i asked you.. VO: What's your plan for your masters Me: Am going to the US to gather more knowledge then return to my current job for a more senior role VO: What's the guarantee you are coming back Me: I showed him my employment letter (Remember I earn in USD) VO: How long did your work at PwC Me: 6 years ( I counted from 2014 even though I was an intern and only joined back on contract just before my NYSC) VO: how much were you earning monthly Me: 2 million a month ( but I lied here because until j left I was earning 110k) but I just had to demonstrate that I have been earning alot since 2014 otherwise he will suspect the school made a mistake on my personal funds showing $40k. When filling tge DS160 form I had put it there i started work in 2014 and monthly salary is 2 million per month so I was consistent. VO: Ma'am are you an accountant My wife: Yes sir VO: Why aren't you going for masters as well My wife: I want my husband to pursue his gmdream first and I will follow suit afterwards VO: Who's a better accountant between the both of you My wife: My husband because he is chartered VO: Turned and looked at me VO: How long are you guys married for Me: 2 months VO: Where do you work currently Me: I told him VO: You said you were earning 2 million a month when you were at PwC which is $5k converted to USD and you left there for a place where you are currently earning $1k, i don't understand your story is not adding up. Why will you do that Me: I left because I wasn't getting the job satisfaction I desired and I got bored and tired of consulting and I wanted to move to the industry particularly real estate that's why i left, but my salary is more than $1k a month what you saw on my contract I showed you is my basic I still earn commissions from selling land in my office ( I confuse the guy) VO: So you mean you earn $4k in commissions a month Me: I said yes, even more atimes (then I explained the type of real estate my company is into) VO: I believe your story VO: Take this white paper and your I20s you need it at the port of entry, enjoy your stay at the Unired states See ehn I was told not to apply with my wife that I will be denied, I was told US no go give me visa for various reasons but this God I serve is the formula to my family's success story today. God is awesome. We have collected our passports. 70 Likes 6 Shares |

Please friends I need your input on this. I'm trying to apply for a tuition assistance. Now, the school has stated that applicants whose financial status aligns with the federal poverty guidelines at maximum of 200% can apply. What that means I don't really get. They're further requesting for a most recent IRS tax return and federal 1040/or W2 and a one month paychecks stubs for all working adults in the household, benefits letter from County and employer letter verifying income. Does this apply to international students or US citizens alone? Also what are my chances of getting a tuition assistance if my sponsor is able to cover my expenses. |
