This factors where discussed in the same research that demonstrated the prevalence of MSM as compared to hetero-sexual.

1) Sample Size: the sample size(1000+ individuals) of the research you are probably using to back your argument was not enough to clearly use as a indicative marker for the demographics of gays or any other population related reasearch.

The use of sample size calculation directly influences research findings. Very small samples undermine the internal and external validity of a study.
