Alucoboard is not my thing though. Even stainless steel gates is not something I’m likely to consider too for finishing and strength.

I’d have taken up the challenge but my plate dey full right now. However, there are cool alucoboard sturvs to explore at Qualitik’s in Dopemu, Lagos.

Na there I dey do my perspex acrylic sheet, polycarbonate, foamboards, wood composite etc.

Wow so you know qualitiks at dopemu?

The Simplest Way To Calculate The Numbers Of Blocks U Need For Your Fence

The simplest way to calculate the numbers of blocks you need for your fence project, assuming you are fencing a land measuring 120 feet by 60 ft, a standard plot

This calculation is based on 9 inches block fence .
The measurement we are using is 120 ft (length) and since we have two lengths that is multiply by 2 which is 240 ft. (120 x 2) = 240

The breadth is 60 ft and also since we have 2 breadths that equal 120 ft (60 x 2) = 120
Then (240 + 120) that is 360 feet perimeter line fencing.

The calculation

(we are to convert this 360 feet to inches ) since a foot is 12 inches , now let us multiply 12 inches by 360 ft which is 4320 inches.

Now to get the line numbers of blocks that will go around the fence perimeters of 4320 inches or 360 feet, we would need to divide 4320 by 18 inches, since the length of any block be it 6 inches or 9 inches is 18inches.

Now 4320 inches divide by 18 inches is approximately 240 line of blocks , then we must multiply that by the numbers of coaches of blocks you want for your height, assuming 7 ft which is 9 coaches that means 240 multiply by 9 which is 2160 blocks and that is all you need anything aside from this is fake and fraud, this calculation is derive by me professionally and i have been using it without any mistake, but always remember to add 10 % of blocks to it because of broken blocks, and for this work, you only need 30 bags of cements, one bag of cement to 70 blocks, is standard.

for your pillars between the fence, let assume 6 blocks far from the next pillar, that means 6 divide by 240 which is 40 pillars, 1 bag of cement to 2 pillars standard, that is 17 bags plus 40 bags that is 47 bags is need by me to do this fence, if i'm in position and you should also to add 15 bags for floor blinding of the fence making 62 bags of cement.

Then, we need to minus the gate and the pillars that are also taking space in the fence.

The gate is 12 ft, let us assume the gate columns or pillars is 14 inches each, we have 2 pillars holding the gate, that is 28 inches or 2. 4 feet plus 12 feet that is 14.4 feet or approximately 15 feet.

Remember we already calculate the pillars that 40 pillars is need for the measurement.

Each pillar or column for 9 inches concrete is 9 inches square, 9 x 40 = 360 inches that is (30 feet + 15 feet = 45 feet ) / 18 inches = 30 blocks multiply by the number of coaches, 30 x 9 = 270 block minus 2160 blocks = 1890 blocks in total.

40 lengths of 12mm iron rod, since one pillar is equivalent to 1 length.

3 lengths of 16mm iron rod for the 2 big pillars holding the gate.

90 planks of soft wood for the framing.

1 truck of granite (granite would be use for the wall foundation and columns)

5 trucks of sharp sand

Thanks for the opportunity giving me to explain this simple arithmetic.

Adeniyi

what is the size of your land.

60 x 120 or 50 x 100?

Is it waterlogged or dry land?

Do u want to use 6 inches or 9 inches?

With this little calculation below you can help yourself, if you can't, I can help u with the calculations.

for your pillars between the fence, let assume 6 blocks from one pillar to the next pillar, that means 6 divide by 240 which is 40 pillars.

Let me know if this help ma

Please how do I use this to calculate 30 by 120 half plot of land

I was busy bro, and I think we just finished chatting, which I have give u the quote you need sir.

There is a trick everyone here should observe both prospects & project owners, builders, engineers & QS here should observe.

If u are buying woods be 18ft anywhere from Ore to the east always go for 12ft because if u are going by 18ft u will be charger double, instead of one and half price.

A case study.

A friend of mine, we graduated together from University of Lagos, he was building at Amagba, Benin, in Edo. He was at roofing stage, so he called me for woods, I was not around to do the work, so he went to a sawmill close to Airport road, when he got there, they told him 2x2@N500, 2x3@N600, 2x4@N700, 3x4@N1, 300 all by 12ft.

Then 2x2@N1, 000, 2x3@N1, 300, 2x4@N3, 000, 3x4@N2, 500 all by 18ft.

I told him to join me and the seller on conference call, I told the seller to give my bro discount because am also a seller and the woods are many, and we are going to buy by from all by 12ft, he agreed, and we end the call

My friend call me back Privately and said u are smart.

I told him we are both smart because they taught us calculus.

Let try to always cut cost in whatever we are building on Earth Because it is for our next generations use.

We must cost cut to the best result, quality and luxury taste.

We must build on eco friendly.

We must build to sustain any natural occurrences

Build for comfort.

Build to sustain mankind.

And this thread created by Hajji can help many prospects builders and onwers.

This one of the best thread on nairaland.

Note there are genuises architects, Engineers, QS, Builders and Artisans here.

Some people only come to nairaland because of this thread as guests

Some register on nairaland just to be able to comment because of this particular thread.

Thank you for this

Please how many number of blocks do we need for half plot of land 30 by 120

Thank you

Your land is 30 x 120

Rectangular size of land.

120 + 120 + 30 + 30 = 300 liner ft or 300 perimeter cover of your land.

300ft x 12 = 3600 ÷ 18 = 200 blocks that will go around your land.

Note: we only multiply the linear perimeter fts of you land by 12 to convert it into inches so we can have all the measurements in inches because both 9 inches block and 6 inches block are all 18 inches length.

Now you have 200 blocks lining your land from foundation, it now depend on you how many courses or coaches u are going to have.

For instance, if it going to be 10 coaches that is 2000blocks, on a dry land, 2 coaches below the ground and 8 coaches above the ground.

Let me us know if this help.

God bless you happy happy weekend.
