theenchanter:- I never claimed that the US had faster trains than China.....Don't debate when you don't know the context - The Gautrain uses SGR so yeah don't know what it's rated at but like I said before our rail network is divided, we don't need fast trains for such short distances....doesn't make sense, hence why there will be an HRS by 2025 for the longer proposed routes like Joburg - Durban route possibly even a Joburg - CT route - Cape Gauge which is what SA as well as Japan use was first introduced in 1795 Look it up!! - "Since narrow-gauge railways are usually built with tighter curves, smaller structure gauges, and lighter rails, they can be less costly to build, equip, and operate than standard- or broad-gauge railways (particularly in mountainous or difficult terrain). Lower-cost narrow-gauge railways are often used in mountainous terrain, where engineering savings can be substantial. Lower-cost narrow-gauge railways are often built to serve industries as well as sparsely populated communities where the traffic potential would not justify the cost of a standard- or broad-gauge line." - So if NGR is so efficient in Japan then why is SGR more modern and better? Why have Japan extended their NGR instead of replacing it with SGR?.........oh yes because it doesn't need to - over 250kmph since travel time between Joburg and Durban will be like 3 hours.....And Nigeria has no plans for an HSR |

jl115: Nope I put it to u that is barely does up to 70mph. It’s 65mph on a good day and on a bad day we are down to 35mph. - SGR is way more modern but was also created in the 1800s just like the NGR.....Cool story bro I guess 200 year old things are modern by Nigerian standards? You already said want I want. No one is ready to enter a context on which technology is older. Facts is NGR is inferior to SGR . Now that my friend is the crux of the matter. Quit splitting hairs already,it makes u look pathetic. - Our Passenger trains are broken up in regions WC, Gauteng, Durban, EC ect ect....they don't need to be fast since they don't travel long distances....the fact is our new passenger trains are state of the art in terms of comfortability, efficiency and safety...and nothing in Nigeria that can match them. Will you keep quiet. Ur attempt to hype that refurbished outdated metal is rather hysterical. I am guessing snail -paced passenger train is what we refer to as light rail,u look below and tell me when SA will match this - how did I forget Japan have HSRs?? I simply stated that the majority of their highly efficient rail network is still NGR. Pls hush it. You can’t compare whatever u have in SA to Japan. The most part of Japanese rail might be MGR but they supercede most NGR around the globe. They are not the usual conventional NGR. They are using 1067mm (3’6) while the SA and most part of the world adopt 1,435mm(4’8 , 1’2). Couple with the fact that their is electrified. And yes majority of the passenger and freight travel are in SGR. So yeah go figure - Again SA is the only country in SSA that actually have plans to develop a HSR Story for the gods. Bye no one gives a flying fig about ur plans and desires. Make it a reality then that would be worth my time discussing, otherwise eff the fvck up. Thanks 3 Likes 1 Share

Vlain:- "Amtrak operates more than 300 trains each day — at speeds up to 150 mph"..... Also average speed with stops is 84mph......stop your blatant lying!! It's embarrassing..... Now shut the fvck up and get me my links..... Or are you not a man of your word? - NGR has its advantages just like SGR has its advantages.... The best and most efficient rail network in the world is NGR(Japan) - metro rail is 2300kms long.... Abuja light rail 40kms long..... Not to mention these new trains can go as fast as the gautrain and are state of the art trains "The X’Trapolis Mega is equipped with an automatic train operation (ATO) signalling system; this facility enables it to optimally navigate through highly-trafficked networks and reduced the impact of congestion. It has been reportedly designed to serve up to 30,000 passengers per hour in either direction along the network. The design of the train embraces modularity, reliability and high capacity, while the vehicle itself is intended to be applied to suburban and regional transport roles. The Mega can normally attain a maximum service speed of 120km/h, however, it is reportedly possible for the train to be upgraded to be capable of reaching up to 160km/h instead." Your Abuja light rail has nothing on our new passenger trains - the majority of japans rail network including freight and passenger services are narrow gauge specifically Cape gauge.... Exactly the same as SA.... Secondly 50% of South Africas 22000km rail network is electrified..... That's would still put SA as the 12th largest electrified rail network in the world - we are getting an hsr in 2025...already approved by parliament 1 Like 1 Share |

jl115:tell me any new narrow gauge rail line system under construction anywhere or even SA and I'll leave this cyclic argument. That being said, ur rail lines were built when narrow gauge was the norm (repeatedly) not really because if terrain! It was easier and inexpensive to build narrow gauge compared to SG, that doesn't mean Standard gauge wasn't in existence then. South Africa doesn't even have a difficult terrain like ethiopia, yet ethiopia has over 1000km of standard gauge while u have just 80km. Again, efficiency has nothing to do with guages, it's just about timing. How do u know Nigeria has no plan for HSR when they're already building it? 2 Likes |

Mkenya2019:You don't seem to be following what is going on in China concerning the maltreatment of the Muslim Uighurs. It's barbaric and unimaginable in the 21st century, yet nobody is doing anything about it because everybody seems to want one thing or another from China. 1 Like |

https://www.timesnownews.com/international/article/over-40-nations-criticise-china-at-un-over-atrocities-against-uyghur-muslims-others-in-xinjiang/825910 Here 40 countries calling them to stop it. Many countries are also contemplating boycotting winter olympics to protest human rights violation in Uighur. The point is - human rights are universal - and nobody can wave sovereignty and jurisdiction - like the idiotic Ghanians were saying - you simply cannot do as you wish when it comes to universal human rights. China is powerful but imagine poor Ghana violating human rights - they will suffer. obaaderemi: 1 Like |

Whatever you do - including leaving this argument - please dont compare nigeria with South Africa railway system. It's one of world best. Compare your rail system to kenya. Just checked RSA has 11th largest world railway system. Just like it's road network. They are miles away - because they have a big minning industry. Nigeria can get there if it started minning. Otherwise railways are really useless without a mining industry. Light rail in cities yes - but outside that - railway can only be profitable if it carries minerals and unconventional cargo. theenchanter: 2 Likes |
