"6. Please provide information on the measures taken to investigate the above-mentioned allegations of torture and ill-treatment perpetrated against Mr. Kanu during his detention in Kenya and to hold those responsible accountable." "We would like to inform your Excellency’s Government that after having transmitted this joint communication to the Government, the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention may transmit the case through its regular procedure in order to render an opinion on whether the deprivation of liberty was arbitrary or not. This letter of allegations in no way prejudges any opinion the Working Group may render. The Government is required to respond separately to the letter of allegations procedure and the regular procedure. While awaiting a reply, we urge that all necessary measures be taken to prevent the re-occurrence of similar violations, to investigate the above-mentioned allegations, and in the event that the investigations support or suggest the allegations to be correct, to ensure the accountability of any person responsible of the alleged violations. The allegations in the case of Mr. Kanu raise serious violations of international human rights law and may cause irreparable damage to his life or personal integrity, which we believe warrants prompt attention. In this regard, we are considering to publicly express our concerns in this case in the near future, believing that the wider public should be informed about the implications of these allegations for the enjoyment and exercise of human rights in Kenya and Nigeria. Any public expression of concern in this regard, will indicate that we have been in contact with your Excellency’s Government to clarify the issue/s in question. This communication and any response received from your Excellency’s Government will be made public via the communications reporting website within 60 days. They will also subsequently be made available in the usual report to be presented to the Human Rights Council. Please note that a letter expressing similar concerns is being sent to the Governments of Nigeria and the United Kingdom."

How is this my fault? My mom has been disturbing me on dis particular grl she wnts me 2 marry. I visited home 2 see de girl nd my mom invited de grl. Whn I saw de grl I was lik, waow. Infact this grl was an angel, tall, light skinned, infact she was pretty as my mom Said. I went straight 2 d point without wasting time nd told her while she was invited. We exchange numbers. After 2 days I call her told her I was leaving back 2de city nd dat was how we started. After 2 weeks I bought a new Android phn nd send 2 her. I'd send her money 4 upkeep almost every week as my wife 2be nd dat was hw she started disturbing me dat she wants 2 visit but I keep postponing it. After 1month and issue came up. I saw her on Facebook but I didn't sent her a friend request neither did she but she call to tell me she saw me on fcbk. What bafles me was de number of male frnds on her list just within 1month so I hv 2 create an account with my guys pics nd send her a frnd request which she accepted dat Sam day. She ask where I live nd I told her Lagos nd she said dats where her husband 2 be is staying and whenever she visits she will come and see me de new boyfriend. But I still keep my cool nd any time I sent her money she come and send card to dis number I gave her as de fake boyfrnd. She was like I hv a romantic voice just like her husband to be but she loves me (fake boyfrnd) more than him. Frm there I told her that if she truly love me then she should come nd visit me. She said she will get back to me nd that was how dis girl started disturbing me dat am her husband 2 be she wants 2 be close 2 me know much about me so I should let her visit. Dat was when I send her 10k for her transport to visit me. When she reached Lagos I went to the park to pick her up but before the she call the fake line I gave to her 2 let me know that she was in Lagos and her husband to be is coming to pick her up. That was when the bus dat i entered stop and the man that was telling us the story drop. |
