Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) has said the population of Nigeria currently is 200million, increases by five million annually.

That's the total population of over half the countries of the world. Countries like Denmark, Singapore, Norway, Finland have barely 5 million population.
Uncontrolled Population increase might be the single most serious problem that will destroy the country. It is the single most important issue that is responsible for our rising poverty rate and thus insecurity.
With a population growing at 5%, inflation growing at 14% and then economy growing at a measly 2%, disaster awaits us in the near future.

Only IBB attempted to control population with the "one woman four children" policy. That was when the population was about 88 million. Even at that it was not implemented.
The present government needs to declare a population emergency and start taking drastic measures instead of just complaining.

Not only north o. Go to an average maternity clinic in the south, you will see women giving birth per second per second. And we are not even talking about women giving birth at home or traditional nursing homes.
It's a general problem.

The irony is that we have been 200,000,000 for the past 10 years. As we dey born 5 million every year, we no suppose don reach 250,000,000 by now? How come year in year out, we remain at 200,000,000.

It's high time we conduct a national population census, we don't have true statistical data to back all these up, no proper record of death and birth rate too.

I'm telling you. I went to Lagos last weekend and the population I saw there was alarming. Because of the nature of what I went to do, I touched virtually all areas of Lagos, and every single area was overpopulated. Naija population should be nothing less than 250 million right now.

Nigeria don’t have a database that’s why there is no accurate figure.

One can predict that those that die naturally in Nigeria at the hospital or at home on a daily bases all over the country will be more than 200 p/day, plus people killed by bandits and Boko Haram etc.
