giftedben: You people like propaganda like the ways bees like nectar. The Anglo-German agreement of 1913 drew the boundaries between Nigeria and Cameroon. This agreement placed Bakassi on Cameroonian side. The Agreement wasn't fully enforced when German was defeated in the WW-1 which happened between 1914-1918 following which Germany was striped of her colonies in Africa (including Togo, Cameroon, Namibia). The victorious powers (UK and France) simply shared the colonies of Germany among themselves. In 1995, Cameroon took Nigeria to court to take possession of Bakassi based on the boundaries agreement of 1913 and the court ruled in their favour in 2006. |

At the 1884 Berlin Conference The British held Bakassi and the Germans of Cameroon held the Cross River The Germans used the Cross River of Eastern Nigeria to travel Back and Forth from their Colonies in Northern Cameroon The British wanted the Cross River desperately so they agreed to give the Germans Bakassi as part of German Cameroon in exchange for the Germans giving the British the Cross River for the Cross River plus they would permit the Germans freedom of Travel on the Cross River to and from their Northern Cameroon Territory This was the agreement between the British and the Germans at the Berlin Conference But after the Germans lost the 2nd World War the British treated Bakassi as Conquered Territory especially after the UN Split Cameroon between the World War 2 Victors Britain and France to administer The issue of the agreement between Britain and Germany over Bakassi being exchanged for Cross River is in Lord Lugards Book Dual Mandate This was the agreement that Cameroon used to win its case at the Court |

Christistruth00: NIGERIA is not under any obligation to obey the rulling of the world court, she probably did because of her gentleman agreement with Cameroon during the Biafran war. The world court recently ruled in favor of Somalia over control of sea coast both countries are dragging. But Kenya rejected the world court rulling and there is nothing anyone can do about that. |
