Nnamdi Okonkwo rose to the level of a director at Fidelity Bank and they still gave him an appointment elsewhere. How can we solve employment problem in Nigeria when people don't have the mindset of setting up their own businesses? A man who once directed a bank should start up his own business if he still wants to be relevant in the financial services industry. I think the CBN should enact a policy, restraining former bank directors from holding salaried positions in the private sector once they have left their offices. @Penguin2, this comment about Igbos is sickening. 4 Likes |

Also, Okwonkwo had worked his socks up to attain that position, you as an ordinary igbo man should better brace up, rol up your sleeves and carve a niche for your self before you start to dey gum body with Okwonkwo... You're right, only that the Insurance arm has been divested. (Though it still retains the name, for Goodwill) You'll notice it wasn't mentioned in the list. dingbang: |

Penguin2: Lol. This chest beating is one of the causes of problems for the Igbo man. Particularly when done in Ignorance. This position is a figurehead position. The real leader of the bank is Adeduntan, the MD of First Bank. Think of Okonkwo's position as ceremonial. He does investor relations, relating to the NGX, investor calls etc but the bank is actually being run by Adeduntan. Not that it matters for tribalist idiots though because Okonkwo has more in common with Adeduntan than you here thinking you can live vicariously through the achievements of someone else. Class is more important than tribe 12 Likes |

dingbang: First Registrar's was divested several years ago. FBN Insurance has been divested too. Same with FBN Microfinance Bank. What you have now is First Bank and FBN Quest and then First Pension is a subsidiary under First Bank. There are also the international subsidiaries under First Bank. |
