100% of those boats are locally assembled boats, so no serious safety standards on board apart of wearing the life jackets, they are like Danfo buses running on our roads, the only ones with some level of safety are the LAGOS STATE BOATS, and those ones are very few plying the water ways

Chai....Thank God o...and I was on ferry yesterday noon from flourmill ferry lane Apapa to CMS...first,it was all those canoe that was available,fuel poured inside,staff were trying to take it out and it was taking time,trust Nigerians,they started complaining of delays...some mins later,they started the engine and we began entering one by one...I swear we were all afraid deep down because we saw bad signs,and that was the only boat available to CMS ,the boat was just swinging left right like it wanted to capsize...at some point men began holding on tight to the boat "Fear grip" as it moves....I was just saying my last prayers and thinking on how to survive if it happens...we had life jackets though,but i don't trust theirs....small small struggle till we got to CMS and everybody looked at eachother like "Whew" ... I'm glad no life's lost in all.

Say what you know, no boat in Lagos will move if a single passenger is not on jacket. The owner will not even let you in his boat if you don't want to wear life jackets because of fine.
