[quote author=eclint post=107210192]You better go there as early as 6am. If you get there by 8, e go choke oo![/quote Hmm I think is better you book biometrics a separate day...because I was given 8am and I got there 8.16am...and I got no 168..and I was not called in till 11am and I ended up finishing 3pm. Meanwhile abuja biometrics is less than 20mins if you book between 9am to 10.30am. 1 Like |

SolaScrivens: Good day Sola, I have a friend with your exact academic background. Civil( structure), MSc( structure) now doing his PhD as well in structure. Now his first degree, he came out wt 2.2( 3.26/5.0), his Msc was excellent and now doing is PhD. What he did was, he has done 4 published research, 3 seminars with 8years of civil engineering experience. I guess his research and experience paved way for him. So do you have any research to your name?( Not your normal BEng or Meng projects) To start with, you need to start looking out for schools and writing to potential supervisors whose research areas resonates with what your want to do or researches you have done before and would like to further on. As for the schools, our able Lekiboboe will be of immense help. Chat him, he will surely deliver. But then I don't see your 2:2 hindering you from securing research slot with a supervisor and funding. Just package your mail that you will send to supervisors. Hint more of your excellent masters and researches and the need to research more in his or her field which aligns with your research interests. Less I forget, he also did GMAT to boost his chances Wait for gurus to throw more light 3 Likes |

Kidsister13: I would advise you get there by 5:00AM. I went a day before and the security personnel told me I should try and get to the venue by 6:00AM. I got there at 5:30AM and 2 people were there already. Be there at 5:00AM if you can so you can be among the 1st set of people. They started at 7:30AM but there were over a hundred people by then. I finished at 1:30 PM just so you know. |

eclint: Approval rate for applicants from Nigeria is below 12%. Applicants from countries with challenging economic, security and political situation have very slim chances of getting accepted. They are more likely to stay back after their studies. I mean, how many Nigerians have returned after their UG or PG education in Canada? 2 Likes |

Aijay26: I booked with KLM for December(Lagos to Montreal) on their website and chose the option to pay into their bank account while checking out. A mail was sent containing the bank account details and my booking reference. I called the phone number in the mail to get their USD/NGN conversion rate for the day and made the transfer. They confirmed the payment almost immediately and I now have my ticket. Please ensure you put only your booking code as reference while transferring the money. You may want to do the same or go to their office if you prefer in-person service. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

Jay316: You can put both valid and expired passport with travel stamps under *Passport* Just make sure the valid one is what appears first when the VO opens the file. I did that and I also know people who did and had no issue with their application |

Nickoko: CAC can be put under client information But reference it in your SOP so it can serve as home tie. For Vehicle I just used proof of ownership certificate and got someone to professionally value it and issue a valuation document. So I put the proof of ownership certificate and the valuation document under the finances section. |

Hi, Anyone with information about flying Royal Air Maroc to Canada in the next month or so? Just to reconfirm whether the temporary ban is now lifted or not. It is the cheapest and even total flight time competes well with other "better" airlines. Any tips or cautions about doing this? Thanks. |

Hi all, Just wanted to chip in a few updates. When I was active on this thread around 2019-2020 I was always on the lookout for people who can give information from the other side. Having information about how things actually go on once within Canada helps with planning. 1. If possible, please apply for at least a 2 year program. I assume most people here are planning to get a work permit afterwards and from there get to apply for PR. It's not that easy. Getting a job after graduation is not so straightforward. And for a lot of provinces, you need to work for 1 year before you can apply for PR based on work experience or Canadian Experience Class. So if you graduate and it takes 3 - 6 months post graduation to get a job (best case scenario), your one year work permit would have expired before you can apply for P.R. Besides most employers don't like to employ people who do not have long-term work permits. For those planning to travel soon 1. Nothing you buy in Nigeria can handle Canadian winter . Don't spend a fortune on 'winter clothes'. Just buy the little you will wear from the airport to your homes or for the first few days you land until friends and/or your hosts can help you buy appropriate clothes. 2. Please do not leave the airport without it being specifically written on your study permit that you are entitled to work part time (20 hours) during the term and full time in summer. No matter what the border officials say, insist on the endorsement. I made that mistake when I landed in June - she told me it doesn't matter and everybody knows that students can work. Turns out it's not true. You can't work without a SIN and no one will give you a SIN (Social Insurance Number) unless your student permit says you can work. I have been trying to get my student permit amended since June till now. No response. So please stand your ground at the border and insist. 33 Likes 4 Shares |
