When is Nigeria going to have cattle tax ? A lot of our revenue, properties and infrastructure are being expended on the private cattle business and I doubt if any tax is being paid by people doing this cattle business. Infact, the country has lost so many lives, both civilian and military in the last say six years to cattle business. It is about time we start asking questions about this venture that consume so much of our national resources but does not seems to contribute anything to the government or Nigerians.
When and how will government get value for it's inputs to this private venture ? From all indications, we do not seem to have a comparative cost advantage in this area. Do we try to encourage importation to reduce our enormous loses in human and material resources resulting from this venture ? Can we get the private practitioners to embrace best practices to significantly reduce overall production cost and unnecessary carnage ?
