The same guy is also doing 800sqm + roofing tiles for me this weekend. That one won’t be POD though.

POD works for those who do not entertain dramas.

I recently did 50 tons of iron rod POD. In fact 80% of my nairaland purchases are POD except when I’m dealing with the ambeoloruns (starters who do not have resource).

In an environment where trust-based leadership is present, everyone (suppliers/tradespeople/artisans/masons) will experience high level of job autonomy and low levels of unnecessary control.

Autonomy in this regards means there’s total independence and discretion to schedule work, make decisions, and choose the methods used to perform tasks.

I focus more on the latter than the former and also help them achieve good success by providing necessary support where necessary. I don’t meddle or interfere in other people’s affairs.
When business leaders become too fixated on micromanaging workmen/tradespeople, we make reactionary decisions which automatically put them in defensive posture.

Of course this comes with predictable outcomes which includes but not limited to decline of trust, cooperation and innovation.

If you don’t trust them, don’t deal!

O yes, as for the maintenance, you are � on point. My comments were strictly based on the structural integrity of the building. The Electrical and mechanical integrity is as suspect as the economic and moral decline of Nigeria itself.

There is no respite until we all recognise how 'bent' our mindsets are and make a U-turn.

Yeah the building will not collapse but I doubt the fire response will be adequate. And the building has caught fire multiple times.

They wont still hear .... My encounter so far reveals that everyone is hungry,.. everyone want to take as mush as possible home.. even the engineers themselves are not left out....

solutions to the problem is when appropriate sanctions is given to engineers and developers or clients that refuse to work accordingly to the building approval that is gotten on a project..

in the ikoyi building collapse, i blame the supervising structural engineer for not notifying the lagos state building agency when he left site.

I disagree with that comment of standard, they have full size of 12 mm of standard. People choose to go for the cheap 9mm selling as 12mm. If you’re ready to pay, anything you need in standard are there. It’s is matters of choice.TMT full 12mm and many other smaller sizes are also there, they will show you the differences before you make your choice. Please always try to get the best of materials.

I don’t need to wait for any Nigerian modulated panel report. I’m a free man that can reasonably make my own assumptions.

Until proven otherwise I’ll assume that a copy was filed with the agency.

One of my relatives( wify side) is their chief plumber he left the site some weeks ago as they asked him to go and head another ongoing project in ILORIN and Bayelsa .
He narrated so many things to me about that particular building.

compensation system abi enforcing the law on the book. People are not afraid of consequence of wrong, many of them know they we get away with it. If you see the video of What happened there last year when the building control authority went to building for inspection, the developer is giving his guy other not to let authority have access to the building he is also resisting arrest on that video . It’s a complete mess. Imagine challenging authorities on your site in western world. My brother, if they have to call 5,000 police back up they will.
