From the little I know, you don’t need to pay for the hotel, just make a reservation and they will likely give you a pdf of reservation, you can’t be too certain when you will be given the visa, just make the reservation and use the proof to submit at the embassy. So we re-applied immediately after this denial and she has now been given the VISA. Multiple entry and 90 days.

Documents resubmitted were:
-Invitation from my brother who’s a resident stating he was sponsoring the trip and included all his docs and 6 months statement
-The filled request form and her own account statement.

Please anyone with these answers can also assist. So my mum was denied for same reason of bank statement not valid for 3 months and now we have even gotten statement for 6 months.

Two weeks. She had traveled before to SA though, like 6 years ago.

Mine is still pending though and it's about 5 weeks already.

We like to cry foul and blame the government. We forget that the government is actually a reflection of who we are. The average Nigerian is just waiting for his/her turn to take a piece from the national cake. And you expect South Africans not to protect their own space by shutting you out?
