Bro the picture is still not clear and i know this is frustrating but to get to a solution you need to give people a clearer picture of the case.

I suggest you contact the UKIV to apply for extension before your visa expires, if the extension from the school is a written one then attach it.

Use the link the school sent you and forget the mention of lockdown, add additional paper explaining your situation.

Doing that will help you remain legally in the UK during the processing of your application and at the same time you will be able to finish the project.

OK... Nice one. I appreciate.

The challenge that brought all this was as stated. Project was written but deemed too poor when compared with those of others. So an extension was sought to allow time to redo the project to our satisfaction (wrong move I know but at the time we were in our feelings).

Extension was granted but then we noticed that studentship status has changed and that we would now require and extension of the Visa.

Several suggested the exception assurance route. I didn't think it was right but from the forgoing, I would have to do that tonight as well as make the extension application as you have suggested.

The challenge of why this is seemingly late is because most mails where not replied even after several reminders. But it's all good.

Thanks again.

I thought the exceptional assurance concept was for people trapped by Covid?
And going forward, in the event you are ever in a situation where you need action to be taken and are waiting for information/advice about how to do so, always remember that the person sitting in an office (or bedroom) answering their emails one by one can afford to take their time, while you, the person whose time is being wasted, can't, so you should expedite action by seeking help elsewhere.

Not sure they grant it for 3 months though. When I applied for my mum during the peak of Covid last year, it was granted for 1 month. At that time, flights were not going to Nigeria at all.

many excuses bro! People are granted this every day. No one I know has been rejected. It is better for him to try and be rejected than not to try.

It is actually. That's why we are wondering why they will extend one's visa when flights are going to Nigeria. You are required to include evidence of cancellation of flight or evidence showing reason you can't leave

This isn't exactly helpful though, but what happened to the extra 3months after your course end date? The initial verdict on your project should have been out within your normal term time, with the extra time for you to redo any work required to get a good grade.

While you wait for the outcome you need to also prepare to travel back to Nigeria within 28days of your visa expiration.

All you need to avoid is over staying the visa, they will argue that you have enough time to finish your project and attend your graduation.

Do a bit of digging for a link that explains what happens when the school changed your student status to part time with attendance and part time without attendance. That will help you make the next move

It's 4 months actually, and while it's clear the poster doesn't want to go into this, we're all wondering how that extra period got extended way beyond the visa end date in this case.

Put differently, if the visa end date is 11/11/2021, then the course end date on the CAS would have been around mid-July 2021. Any project would have had a deadline for submission by maybe end of May/early June 2021 or so. Having a project extended for another 6 months is strange. Except there is another unmentioned issue, the poster might want to consider if the university acted properly in extending his course by 6 months.

I didn't want to go into this analysis, not to be seen as rubbing salt in OPs injury but this a really weird situation.
That said, the incompetence of some university staff and even the international teams can be quite mind boggling.

The university immigration units will have carefully disclaimed all liability for any advice they provide or fail to provide, in fine print that is sometimes longer than the actual substance of the emails they send out.

LMAO. You're quite right. At the end of the day, it's all your responsibility so you must be ready to read the rules and do the research.

I ignored the guy you quoted as unlike others (your humble self inclusive) he chose to pick holes and ask questions that are not relevant to the issue at hand. But I would answer this you have raised.

First off the course end date is only one month from the visa end date. And because covid brought about exceptional conditions, the project submission deadline was late August.

Now there were issues as stated with the project submission and extension was sought for just once with a deadline for late this month. Now if you understand how project submission works, you would know that the portal doesn't become open until a few days to the submission deadline (CU) at least.

Does this throw a bit more light now?

I thank everyone that have taken out time to respond, advice and throw light on the best approach to resolve the challenge.

I have considered the options proffered and would be acting on them as needed.

I would give an update of the outcome either way. Thanks again, I really appreciate all of you.

Long story but the work was assumed poorly done. So extension was sought and granted. But the catch was we didn't realise that extension would be for a longer period past the visa validity.

The school then change the status to part-time from fulltime.

Probably not an ‘assumption’.
Probably work was really poorly & haphazardly done.

Advice to students: When you are on Tier-4 visa, your school work should be the main thing. Any other side ‘hustle’ should be secondary.

I cum in peace.

Has anyone here successfully travelled to Nigeria with dual-citizen kids who had an expired Nigerian passport? Or an ETC is definitely compulsory?

I hear it’s legal to do so if the 2nd passport is valid but if love to know if anyone has actual experience doing this?

I miss the good old days when they used to issue visa on arrival to kids undecided

For those who are not tech savvy, you could consider switching to IT audit/compliance first, then evaluate the possibility of moving to information/cyber security later.

Career in the roles mentioned above is rewarding. I will be willing to provide more information on how to switch to them here, folks can also check online for more information.
Please do tell us..as this will aid our further research

I have seen the above as well so if this had happened it would have been the same .... the extension will fall outside of the initial visa timeline.... however

Sorry I don't have any advice because I am not a student but I wish you all the best and prays it gets sorted

I tried to apply for that on the website, it says minors under 18 aren’t eligible for VOA unfortunately. It didn’t use to be so.

Since you spent more time working a student job than doing the studies you came for, One would have assumed that you would have at least saved enough money to handle problems like this.

My issue isn’t even the visa extension (or lack of), it’s the change from full- time to part time as an international student on tier 4 (means you no longer even qualify for the tier 4 because it’s for full time students).

You def need a lawyer

I literally just said this: the reason I don’t participate in the student thread is because I get frustrated by how they forget that they are coming to study. I know some of them use it as a front to emigrate, but that’s more than 10k spent to not even get a good education, which could set you apart from others.

I know how many of my friends I’ve warned to not try this. You’re running from Nigeria and you now don’t plan well to come here. The result is that you remain in a particular “ok” job where you work to pay bills and not to actually live your life- hoping for a breakthrough.

I know family friends that I advise to do courses but they work so hard and don’t earn enough to afford the courses or even have the time to study- a vicious cycle— really not worth it.

Hello everyone.
Please can you change your course to any related course when you get to UK. I found out that my course Msc In International Business in huddersfield is no longer accredited with Chartered Management Institute, while the related course Msc Management with International Business & Msc Management are both still accredited. I already gotten an offer which I have accepted and conditions met except initial deposit, which deadline is Dec 3. Please gurus in the house I have emailed the school about this but what do you guys think. I need that CMI for career progression. Should I go on with the offer I have with the mindset I change the course when I get to the school in uk.
Please gurus in the house I need your advise urgently.

LOL

If you do not have passion for something, you will quickly get frustrated and give up

Both are solid options though, depends on you
