News Politics Politics Nigeria politics Why Igbo Group Gathered In Lagos To Endorse The Emergence Of Yoruba President Come 2023 The 2023 presidential election is fast approaching and different support groups who want their favourite politicians to contest the 2023 presidential election have started mobilization. Southern Nigeria is expected to produce the next President and the South-East is the only region in the South that has not produced the President of Nigeria. However, an Igbo group known as Young Easterners for Progressive Governance (YEPG) according to Guardian newspaper has gathered in Lagos to declare support for Yoruba President come 2023. One may wonder why this group is interested in Yoruba Presidency and not Igbo Presidency which many people in the South-East are clamoring for. That will form the basis of our discussion in this article. Why did this South-East group gather in Lagos to declare support for a President from the South-West in 2023? Some Nigerians believe that what the country needs in 2023 is a President who is capable of developing the country and uniting all ethics groups. It appears this South-East group shares that view and that is why they believe that the South-West has better candidates that can succeed President Buhari in 2023. Former Governor of Lagos State Babatunde Fashola is the South-West politician who the Young Easterners for Progressive Governance (YEPG) believe should succeed Buhari in 2023. They believe that Fashola performed well as Lagos Governor and has also distinguished himself as the Minister of Works. For example, Fashola has shown that his Ministry is capable of delivering the Second Niger Bridge which is a key project in the South-East. This project excites this group. Also, many road projects are going on in the South-East. The Enugu-Onitsha expressway is an example. However, some people in the South-East will disagree with this group because the South-West produced the President between 1999 and 2007. That was when Olusegun Obasanjo who is from Ogun State governed the country. Although Fashola is capable of leading the country, some people think that Peter Obi is the best from the South to succeed Buhari in 2023 because of his ability to manage scarce resources which he demonstrated when he was Governor of Anambra State. They are entitled to their opinion afterall some Yorubas are rooting for an Igbo presidency. That's the beauty of democracy we all can not see things from the same perspective. This is not only commendable but a true display of political altruism. 4 Likes 1 Share |

These are patriotic igbos that have seen the light. Come 2023, a Yoruba President will succeed Buhari in Aso Rock. The smart igbos have seen the handwriting on the wall and are positioning themselves to benefit from that development. The ipob ones can continue shouting Biafla upandan. 2 Likes |

Yoruba.. presidency must come to SW under SWAGA Hausa.. Never allow igbos rule agian, if atal a southerner will emerge, let it be SW Igbo... If Yorubas won't step down for presidency to come to SE, let the North have it. Notice the difference in line of reasoning on the three groups above.. Igbos are willing to give North presidency to spite Yorubas but Northerners won't allow Igbos smell presidency. If North won't vote for SE and Yorubas too don't vote SE, please how will Igbos become president? SW 2023 issa goal. 3 Likes |

CallmeGideon: Just like the woman who asked king Solomon to divide the baby in two compared to the real mother who will rather hand over the baby to the fake mother than have it killed. We all know who has worked harf for it and who is emotionally stable enough to handle the presidency. |
