SaMajeste: I got approved today 9th November. Abuja Embassy First Attempt, no travel history. School: Georgia State University Course: French Studies Funding:$36,140 (full tuition waiver + GTA) Deficit: $15, 603.
V.O : Good morning. Me: Good morning. V.O: I see you're to Georgia State University to study French Language. Me: Yes. V.O: And I see you have a Graduate assistanship? Me: Yes. V.O: You have a deficit. Who's going to pay for it? Me: My uncle. He is a pharmacist. V.O: What will this course do for you? Me: I will come back to my organisation (mentioned it) where I will seek to move to the Academy being built by ECOWAS to lecture. I was a French Facilitator at one of our training schools before being deployed to Abuja. (I can't remember if I said all this or it was in my head, but I already planned on saying it. So, I guess it came out fine). V.O: So, you're saying that you will come to work with ECOWAS Academy, right? Me: No. Migration Academy being built by ECOWAS. V.O: Okay. She typed for a while, maybe 30 seconds and then reached out for the white paper. V.O: shd7dunxokjyyfghjj I-20 hdieijks safe js7eiejnznsj Corona virus djdururjzozxxbbt. I didn't hear anything except these few words. I was just nodding and smiling.
All praise to God because the sequence of questions were not followed, she was answering the questions she was supposed to ask me. Questions like why the US and not France I was expecting was not asked. I give God all the praise. I've been on this journey since last year. I got this admission for Summer 2021 but deferred to Spring 2022. I'm so glad to have a Graduate Coordinator who is understanding. She assured me my funding will be intact and that I can defer. Thanks to you all that has been helping with tips, encouragement and transcripts. God bless you all. If you believe in God, hold him tight, tell him what you want and stand on it. I nearly lost faith with all the denials here but I started speaking scriptures to myself. God is good don't put him aside. God bless you all. Congrats and Welcome to Gsu 1 Like |

Joclins: That's why he asked if there are no other ways of saying that. It doesn't have to be my uncle works in Bleep company and has real estate in Bleep where he owns Bleep properties. It's a common line. I've observed as well.
Imo, you could say, my uncle works in Bleep company and earns Bleep annually. 40% of his earnings are from his company and 60% from family's Housing Business.

I don’t think it matters, I had a similar case where my passport was to expire in April 2022 and my interview was in August against January resumption. I got the visa and I’ve renewed my passport to combine the two when traveling. If you think you still have time to do another one before your interview or submission of your documents then do. But I don’t think it matters. |

My Visa interview transcript. NOVEMBER 8th, 2021. counter 9.
Exchange of Greetings
Consular; Have you had previous travels? Me; No, I haven't had reasons to.
CONSULAR; Whats your current education... Me;I was saying Civil Engineering while he intruded asked if Bsc and said yes.(I should have corrected him, as it a B.Eng.) He immediately asked the a next question.
Consular; I see you're going for an MBA, Why this choice? Me: Yes, I will actually be concentrating on Project management which is my major in my career, it very special to me because the cause integrates business analytics, Finance and accounting management in its course curriculum which I find very important to.my career prospect. I also have a tuition scholarship of about 55% which makes the balance very affordable for me and my family.
Consular: How do you intend to fund your study, I can see here you have a scholarship but it dosent cover all. Me; The remaining cost will be funded my brother who is into car dealership, he is been active in this business for over 20yrs with an annual profit turnover of over a 100million naira. His reasons for funding my studies is because he believes in my career prospect and and also my ability to give back with the skills I have acquired during my studies to his business and the community at large and lastly he is also very financially capable to take up the cost. thanks
Consular; What's your intentions after your studies. Me; I plan to work as a project manager and I also have a startup plan for a project management company that will be into consultancy services and training of young professionals in the industry back here in Nigeria knowing that with the skills and training I must have acquired during my studies, I will be able to deliver on this. thanks
Consular; keeps on typing and then gave me a blue, reasons based on section 214b. 1 Like 1 Share |

For your sister to be looking for such statement amount, it means her cost of attendance for the first year is about $36k which is on the high side. If she finds someone to help her with the statement, will the person also help her with the funds? To the second part. Visa approval or denial depends on chain of factors and not just account statement alone. In some cases, the VO doesn't even request account statement. To the third part. Affect you as how?, I have seen two to three siblings who studied in the US and came in at different time. Everyone's case is treated independently |

In my own understanding and from my first interview experience as a switch from chemistry to MBA, You should have sold yourself how you are presently into handling projects at your work and you need the management skills part to excel. For instance. " Currently at my place of work, I handle series of project as a civil engineer but I haven't been able to plan them effectively which causes backlogs and sometimes setbacks. Going for MBA and majoring in project management will help me to.................." 8 Likes 1 Share |

In terms of career transition and less "shalaye" during interview, choose MBA. I won't really suggest education because they are less funded compared to stems. And your chances of fitting into US teaching system is low as a black African immigrant compared to USC. Also, it's hard for schools to file H1b visa for international students of education because they have teachers yapa in the US. and if your plan is to return back to naija, I don't think any secondary school will pay you more than 150k monthly salary which isn't a good ROI on your education. Bottom line, it's up to you to decide what you want and the career path to choose 1 Like |

Good morning house,
I have an issue, while filling my ds160, the area where I was asked which entity will be paying for your trip, I chose myself because honestly I will be the one paying for those minor things while my mum will be paying for the major ones. I just heard that that part refers to who will be in charge of the funding and since a major money is in my mum’s account, I should have chosen her.
I have submitted this ds160 and even booked a date for my interview. Is there a way I can submit a new ds160 and choose my mum as the person paying for my trip?

Glory be to God. The story long and rough no be small. To see money for ticket that time na die, but we thank God today. I was stranded in Queens, NY, before reporting to school. I was supposed to get a scholarship but the state of Illinois had some issues with funding at the time, and I no get money to pay. I moved to Texas to get a friend to co-sign for me to get a student loan with Discover, but that fell through. I later Joined the U.S. Army after I collect green card in March, 2016 (they paid for my first masters and I am currently doing the second one they are paying for as well), and I am working in IT as a Cloud Security Engineer now after I got out.
