Impound car wey I buy with my hard-earned money? Well, the school doesn't and shouldn't have that kinda power. Blacklisting the errant car and preventing it from going onto the campus makes sense. Fines makes sense too, but impound?

Not really. A lot of students drive recklessly and even compete like fast and furious in broad daylight. Can't count the number of student who lost their lives back in OAU then. After drinking themselves to stupor, they take to the lanes. Some even run as fast as 120-140 km/hr on campus roads. Could remember back then, if you go cross road anyhow for night, you don go be that.

Actually it's not, especially if they have a good reason to back it up. Although not all, but many student car owners can't explain their source of income, these illicit funds that encourages outrageous and reckless lifestyle is not something that should be overlooked, especially in a fragile setting like the university.

A lot of lives has been ruined, most young ladies can't study again, drug abuse is spreading, cultists are using the proceeds as a source of funding, it also encourage bribery.

To me banning students cars on campus is a good starting point in rejecting this menace in the university. You should also remember these cars also help advertise their luxurious lifestyle and enticing other students into their enclaves

During my time, na just one guy get car for my level, we broke die, n our faculty far ehn. Na only woman he dey carry, we go just dey insult am say na puna go kill am. grin

Lots of you don't have real life understanding of issues and think resources are infinite and just throw processes at every societal issue.

We all know how limited the resources of these universities are. So you expect the Uni to dip it's hand into its pocket to finance the process of impounding cars?

Also how do you expect them to implement such tasks? Setup a Road safety/policing unit? Put guards and cameras everywhere to watch drivers and also purchase patrol cars to be chasing such reckless drivers? Who pays for such oversight?

There's less than a 1% chance that a worker or lecturer drives recklessly to show off . That's the handiwork of students, so banning driving on campus by students would cut such acts by 99%. There's already a process of checks at the University gate, so this would cost them little to implement. They just need to filter drivers by their ID cards. Simple

Make una dey do cost analysis please. Not everything is black and white.
