Minor correction: the guys in the pic below are not SF; they're from 1 Tactical Intelligence Regiment. They conduct battlefield surveillance using ground radars and tactical drones to report on enemy movement and disposition. Because they're forward deployed and sometimes behind enemy lines, they're also used as observers to call in artillery on enemy positions and targets of opportunity.

Ok, cool. The thing is, the roles they perform are special forces roles. Going by your description.

By making the Nigerian waters safe in the midst of the chaos that is the gulf of Guinea (it is expected that many of the pirates will be shifting operations to the other part of the gulf of Guinea), the completion of the lekki deep seaport, the construction of rail lines to Niger and Maiduguri(which should be extended to Chad in my opinion), Nigeria is set to become the port of choice for land locked countries in West and Central Africa. The only thing left is to lobby the international community, stakeholders in the maritime sectors and insurance companies to reduce the high cost of premium paid by ships and shipping companies sailing to or through the gulf of Guinea for ships heading to Nigerian ports to negate the zero duties policy of some of the other countries in the gulf of Guinea.

I keep seeing posts proving posters have no clue the weapons system they're cheerleading. After all this time we STILL see forumers "explaining" how a flight of Sue 30 will change the situation in the NE or how a couple of minisubs will redraw the strategic situation in the Gulf of Guinea by denying mighty Cameroonian patrol boat Grebe success to the Bight of Benin and similar examples of sea denial.
Guys, weapons and weapons platforms must be FIT FOR PURPOSE! No matte how weirdo or outlandish they may seem they MUST perform a clear function, a definite purpose.
Behold, the assault revolver, the rsh-12!?

Yes! There is a revolver firing the giant 12.7x55 mm round. Ofc, there's a very SPECIFIC purpose- punching through walls and body armour to put DOWN terrorists WITH one shot- and one hand as the other usually holds a ballistic shield.

The RSh-12 assault revolver (Револьвер Штурмовой РШ-12) is a very unusual weapon, developed upon request from Elite Russian counter-terrorist units. It is an ultimate CQB/Room-cleaning man-stopper, which can be used single-handedly, for example by point-men of entry teams, who carry a ballistic shield in their “other” hand. It is designed to fire an extremely powerful 12.7x55mm ammunition, originally designed for the ASh-12 assault rifle.
https://modernfirearms.net/

The concept makes MUCH sense: despite what movie's tell us pistols, even tricked out specops handguns evidence failure to feed. Revolver with much fewer parts are more reliable. The giant round is so powerful a solid hit ESPECIALLY at typical close room distance would dismember the victim- therefore the revolver makes sense in AT ops. In a traditional P2P 1st world battle space like Russia vs W Europe, our AS/ KDF or ISWAP/NA engagements it would be as useless as gills on a lion!
The rsh-12 exemplifies how tactical NEED influences the weapon-NOT THE OTHER WAY ROUND. I hope the idea that weapons are tailored to the tactical situation is now clear.
GASSPPP! There are now carbine versions available for civvy hunters.

4 800 SANDF personnel (a brigade) took part in Exercise Ukuthula 2021 at the Combat Training Centre (CTC) at Lohatla.
"CTC is one of only ten such institutions in the world that provide exclusive and permanent facilities for landward warfare training. Only two of these institutions are located in the Southern hemisphere, of which the SA Army Combat Training Centre is the largest, 158 000 hectares in total. That is more or less 39 x 39 kilometers."

This year's exercise actually differed from previous ones in 2 aspects: it comprised 2 exercises, Amabutho - which allowed the SA Army’s junior staff command course members to put into practice all the theory they've learned, and Ukuthula - which was enlarged from a battalion group to a mechanised brigade exercise.

@kikuyu1, what we were saying about the paucity of brigade plus exercises on the continent...

]Kenya and Ethiopia are struggling to pay their rail debt[/b],and china debts in General. Neighboring heavily indebted Sudan is borrowing from china to build a line that connects, Ethiopia to Chad through Sudan. Line up the dots and it gets to Nigeria or Cameroon on the Atlantic.

Not Kenya. In fact the SGR is performing beyond expectations!
Actually, the SGR has performed beyond the expectations of the feasibility report. The project has performed better than most railway projects of the same class in the world.

Ethiopia's is a another story which occasionally stalls due to power problems and struggles to find passengers.

Tbh,its time to totally rethink the gov approach to security in pastoral zones. If it were up to me all would be allowed to have guns! If a group of rustlers, almost always of a particular ethnic group were proven to have come from a specific village, said village to be wiped out by 105 milly arty strike.

You do know that there is primary PPE of flack jackets though. If you are seated correctly in the vehicle and wearing your jacket, I seriously doubt a fatality from 12.7mm ammunition, which would have been significantly slowed down by the Armour of the vehicle.

SERIOUSLY!?

50 caliber armor-piercing cartridges went on to function as an anti-aircraft and anti-vehicular machine gun, capable of penetrating 0.9 inches (23 mm) of face-hardened armor steel plate at 200 meters (220 yd), 1 inch (25 mm) of rolled homogeneous armor at the same range, and 0.75 inches (19 mm) at 547 yards (500 m).

A Namibia Defence Force (NDF) F-7 fighter jet has been badly damaged in a runway excursion at Ondangwa’s Andimba Toivo Ya Toivo Airport.

The aircraft (0315) suffered the incident on 15 October. The Chief of the Namibia Defence Force, Air Marshal Martin Pinehas, told Informante that the aircraft had landed normally but its brake parachute failed to deploy, causing it to overshoot the runway. As Ondangwa is now a commercial airport, it does not have aThe pilot is apparently uninjured but was taken to hospital for evaluation.

Pinehas said an investigation into the incident will be conducted by the Air Force.

This is the second NDF aircraft incident in less than a month. On 23 September, an NDF K-8 jet trainer crashed shortly after takeoff from Karibib. Both pilots ejected and one was injured, suffering multiple fractures.

The Namibia Defence Force has a dozen Chengdu F-7NM/FT-7NM combat aircraft and a dozen Hongdu K-8 jet trainers in service. These are the only jet combat aircraft in its inventory.rresting systems, he said.

Right now they are digging huge trenches to keep the herders at Bay.. fighting may not always be the solution since revenge attacks will escalate the situation.
Use of soft power rather than hard power will de escalate the situation and have long lasting effect on the communities.
