The federal government is to borrow N25.5bn ($62.1m) to construct 17MW hybrid solar power infrastructure for the National Assembly.

The loan is part of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s N7.6trn external borrowing request approved by the Senate Wednesday.

The chairman of the Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts, Senator Clifford Ordia, said his panel found that of the $22.8bn approved by the National Assembly under the 2016-2018 External Borrowing Plan, only $2.8bn, representing 10 percent, had been disbursed to Nigeria.

The committee, in its report, listed various proposed projects to be financed by the loans.

The $62.1m loan earmarked for construction of solar power plant in the National Assembly would be sourced from SINOCURE/Standard Chartered Bank.

The contract, according to the report, was awarded at a total value of $60.1m.

However, the report was silent on what the balance of $2m would be used for.

According to the report, the government also earmarked $100m to execute a project in the Ministry of Women Affairs tagged “Nigeria for Women Projects”.

The project, according to the document, is to support livelihoods for 324,000 women over the age of 18 years in targeted local governments in states of Abia, Kebbi, Niger, Ogun and Taraba States.

The loan is part of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s N7.6trn external borrowing request approved by the Senate Wednesday.

We can now understand why the request from Buhari for additional loan was speedily passed by our hungry lawmakers, who are only after their selfish interests and individual pockets than collective public interests.

You see all these borrowings ehn, Buhari isn't the major culprit. You see that National Assembly, there lies the rogues of this country cos I can tell you for a fact, Buhari is not aware of 90% reason why they need to borrow. At his age, his memory is failing and those National rogues are cashing in on it big time. Little wonder they want to foster another mind-failing dunce (BAT) on the people in 2023

oh my goodness
what an amazingly useless government. hausa /fulani are really something else. Notice how they lack any sort of creativity, wisdom, critical thinking or ability to think forwardly? They are the worst race on earth to allow rule you as a people, they will drag you backwards!!!

Just imagine!! in 2021!!! budgeting huge vast sums to be used in creating solar power? when you haven't thought of fixing your national grid? I don't know what word to use to escribe hausa/fulani people but no good word comes to mind. Just imagine this rubbish!! its like their brains are for decoration or non functional. they wake up and just think up any way to steal public funds. And what grinds my gears is that they don't think up intelligent schemes to loot !! no they think of childish kindergarten nonsensical trash scheme that would insult the intelligence of 4 year old toddler . I guess its because 99% of their people have IQ of that range hence they are used to getting away with stupendously ridiculous looting schemes. Huasa/ fulani brought us, monkey ate money, gorilla ate money, sunlight burnt down the accounting office etc
What is wrong with these people?
