defaulting for one day will never ever make anyone deserve public embarrassment. If they try that nonsense in correct country they will use their small cutthroat profit to pay damages for the rest of their lives

Really, but defaulting can run them down and push them out of business...

Am currently in deep mess. Burrowed money from lcredit. I was expecting my allowance 2 days back but yet not paid. And my due date is 19. I call them to day to beg for extension but they said no they don't do that. I should just pay before then or watch as they bring me down

Two weeks ago, I received a text message from one loan app telling me that my neighbour us a criminal and a fraud bla bla bla...

They said I should report him to police if I come in contact with him and I will be rewarded

Infact, when I got home, I met him at the gate and I showed him the message

These are the kind of embarrassment Nigerians face from the loan apps

But in the other hand, some Nigerians are not good repaying

We should not forget that these are people businesses and they have staffs understand their payroll

If you know, you can't pay back, to avoid embarrassment, just look for a friend that you can borrow from

Borrow money from a friend if you can't pay back? Please don't look for a friend o.

On the 25th of last month i needed 15k urgently, after asking from friends which i didnt eventually get, i resorted to try some of these loan apps.
I requested loan from LCredit but i was given 2k, i didnt bother collecting because the money was nothing, i deleted the app from my phone, two days ago, i got a text message from lcredit, that i should bind my card to withdraw the money/loan.
I'm no more interested in the money again, i wanted download lcredit app and refund to them the money but unfortunate i cant find there app on playstore.
From my explanation, i want to ask if the 2k lying fallow in my lcredit account is already a loan, i havnt linked my atm card to collect it, next week is the expiration of the loan, will they call and message all my contacts that i have a loan i need to pay back, i want to download lcredit and refund back the 2k in my lcredit account but there app is not on playstore.
please what can i do, how should i go about it, i'm worried before they start calling and messaging all my contacts.

Lcredit made me contemplate suicide...

Lcredit is nowhere to be found again, I took a loan from them, when it was time to repay,, I searched for it on play store, I couldn't find it. After some days a man called me that he is from Lcredit that they are working it, maintenance bla bla , then he directed to pay to one account, I just smile grin

Legal or illegal?

Who gives a damn whether it's legal or not.

If someone is owing you and refuses to pay use any means available to you to recover your money!

stop talking nonsense. I have a lot of people there. Don't project your life on others. What's plane that looks so luxurious to there. Have you ever heard of creditcard, student loan etc? They are all debts and majority of people don't pay them back in months or years. People default all the time

You're the one who is talking nonsense cos you're making ignorant statements here!

If you default in making payments for loans in advanced countries you will be blacklisted from getting further loans or credit, your insurance premium rates will be higher, you could even be denied employment in certain sectors.

Stop making it sound as if a loan defaulter in those countries will go scott free.

In fact defaulting on a loan over there is one of the easiest ways to fvck up your life; something as basic as issuing a dud cheque will land you in jail unlike here in Nigeria where loan defaulters will be bragging about how they outsmarted a bank or loan company

so where do you see calling a debtor's contact list and blackmailing them with lies and character assassination?
You just don't know anything. Invade an American citizen's contact list and lie /threaten them because they are owing $20( the equivalent of 10k which is what these loan sharks give) let's see if you won't spend the rest of your life settling lawsuit.
Nobody is complaining about the likes of Carbon which can actually report your BVN to credit bureau. People are only talking about the ones stealing your contact list and harassing them.

Knowing that the breach of our personal data by these loan sharks is criminal, there is an even stealthy kind of crime that has the potential to be deadly if these issues of data trust is not addressed quickly.

The current wave of abductions across the country makes every person a potential target regardless of social class or economic status.

Having illegal access to another person's data can prove to be dangerous for the owners of said personal data and information.

This is even more with the invasion of privacy by these loan shark through their illegal tactics on money recovery without notifying the owners and without the owners permission at the time of invasion.

With the unskillful mode these loan sharks employees have been engaging with their costumers, many of these workers have been deemed ass uncultured.

such people with their unethical approach in engaging costumers may be capable of committing serious crimes ranging unauthorized access to our bank accounts to kidnapping and even killing.

The implication of all this is that your phone contacts are open to such potential danger as much as you.

Thats bad, send me a mail, I can help u.Pro debt collectors usually take some percentage of the recovered debt as service charge, maybe 20 to 30%Unfortunately, if the debt is small like btw 10 to 50k, there is little or nothing much to do apart from constantly disturbing the debtor to pay u till he/she succumbs.
Reporting to police is a legal way too but u need to deal with DPO or any superior officer to avoid extortion.

I have a DPO friend but someone advised me to work within the law as the elder brother to the guy is a magistrate. Though I reported to the elder brother who i supplied with evidence and he's already overwhelmed. Now, the younger brother that borrowed from me is asking me to give him this December. That it would not cross December. I don't know his plans but after this December I will contact you. Hope it's okay like that

Ofcourse, it's fine. Give him one more chance to see if he will comply.

While it is wrong and totally inexcusable for these loan companies to breach people's data and resort to blackmail, it is VERY IMPORTANT THAT ANYONE WHO TAKES LOAN FROM THESE COMPANIES SHOULD TRY TO PAY BACK.
