Many people are forcefully practicing religions out of fear of being thrown into a fiery fire and tormented forever.
You're right, it doesn't make sense for the so-called loving God to torment his children in a fire, even humans cannot bear this.
One thing about being a Witness, and being raised as we were, was that we had absolutely no fear of an eternal hell for our sins. It was either death - being conscious of nothing - or eventually resurrection.
Due diligence and study of the bible will show you that such thing doesn't exist in God's word is just one of the tools false religions used to shackle their members.
