safarigirl: Nah.... United is not Watford or Everton. United should be winning titles not celebrating UCL Qualification or coming up second in the League. Unlike NFF, United Board is damn rich and can afford world class Managers and players. Ole has no play pattern. He's as clueless as Rohr tactically. Only difference is, Rohr has never failed his contractual Agreement (clauses) with NFF. He qualified us for World Cup, won Bronze medal at AFCON. He has qualified us again for AFCON and possibly gonna make it to Qatar, if he's still in charge...... that's not FAILURE. 2 Likes |

Danielnino00:I think that Mourinho played attacking football but gradually became defensive minded. Not that he's not been mindful of good defense play but that aspect seems to dominate how he sets his team up nowadays. He's popularized the concept of 'parking the bus'. But I agree with you that it's not apt to describe Mourinho as conservative but if e no change, when he's old he's likely not just to be conservative but ultra conservative like papi Rohr. For now he's defensive minded. 1 Like |

safarigirl:it’s only a matter of time before we are exposed, his team have been struggling for goals. Played Tunisia Algeria and Cameroon (*2) scored only a goal, could only score a late goal against Benin, in a group that have capeverde CAR and Liberia we scored 9 with 5 of them being defensive errors,Penalties and own goal. If we continue like that he’ll come up short when it matters 4 Likes |

Oasis001: Oops just checked.. My bad. Apparently United's strength was in defense that year, De Gea winning the Golden Glove and conceding just 28 goals But still I wouldn't classify Mourinho as an ultra defensive coach. We've seen Mou's team dominate teams they are expected to beat. With Rohr we can't even String 4 passes together |

safarigirl:Noooo. The goodJoe's law states that if a team is not playing well (as in improving its game) even if it qualifies for tournaments or wins games, with time it will not qualify for tournaments or win games On the other hand if a team is improving its play even if it loses games or fails to qualify for tournaments, over time it will win more games and qualify for tournaments with comparative ease. Applying this sweet law to Rohr, it means that 2018 WC, we qualified with ease but because our play has not been improving, we have been struggling to get good results and it's possible that if Rohr continues we might not win or even qualify for tournaments. I must admit though that the effect of this dynamic is most applicable at club football because of the number and frequency of games played compared to national team football. 10 Likes 3 Shares |

safarigirl:Gbam. First it was good play, good results2016-2018. In between it became bad play but with results. Now it's a mix bag cos with the bad play we get as much bad results as good results(2019-2021). It's only a matter of time before the only meal on the menu becomes bad results because the cooking style is bad. Customers don run leave our restaurant. Gernot Rohr bids his senior players farewell Gernot Rohr bids his senior players farewell Fisayo Dairo November 19, 2021 The soon-to-be-disengaged head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr has apparently said his farewell to his senior players, www.aclsports.com can report. The future of the 68-year old German coach is up in the air after a series of lacklustre performances by his players in the past couple of months. This reached a crescendo on Tuesday night when Nigeria narrowly avoided defeat against Cape Verde in their final group game in the race to qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Since the end of that 1-1 draw in Lagos, there have been reports indicating that Rohr’s reign as Nigeria head coach might be over and in spite of the Federation half-heartedly denying the news on Thursday, another dimension came into it that evening. www.aclsports.com has authoritatively scooped that Rohr has bade farewell to his valued key players, informing them of the stance by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to relieve him of his duties. Although the process is not yet complete according to the former Gabon national team head coach, it was now safe for him to thank “his boys” for their support and cooperation while he was in charge of the Super Eagles. Rohr and his employers are expected to officially confirm the parting of ways in the coming days once all legal details are sorted. A replacement is also expected to be named by the Federation as soon as the news is made official. Nigeria is among twenty-four African countries that will participate at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by Cameroon in January and have been drawn against Egypt, Sudan and Guinea-Bissau in Group D. The Eagles will also know their foes in the final round of qualification for Qatar 2022 when the draws are conducted on December 18, 2021. 6 Likes |

If we're talking about delivering (so far) on targets set for him then yes Rohr doesn't deserve to be sacked. Playing sexy football was never inserted into his contract so we can't accuse Gernot of failing based on that. Speaking strictly to the terms of his contract he absolutely doesn't deserve to be sacked. I was team Rohr in the past because I felt with limited talent he still made us competitive especially on the African continent. The arrival of genuinely talented players in the squad was supposed to have improved our displays significantly but unfortunately it's been diminishing returns of late. The 4-4 draw at home to SL sealed it for me. safarigirl: 1 Like |

I think Mourinho is/was a pragmatic coach. The reason why his teams scored many goals especially during the Chelsea era was due to the superior attacking talent he had plus I guess as a younger coach he wasn't averse to taking risk. I think the first el clasico were pep's barcelona thrashed his team affected his psyche that never again will he allow himself to be beaten senseless by playing open football so he retreated to playing hyper defensive safe football. With Chelsea too the second time round he was playing good attacking soccer until Spurs showed him pepper at white hart lane. That I has made him double down that he will always go conservative against better teams but unfortunately for him the better teams are getting adept at beating park the bus teams. Mujtahida: |
