lovewins:The holistic development of our football is not the job of the coach of the SE. In fact he's the one who creams off the hard work of development done by sports administrators. He's the last man on the line. Development should be the task of sports administrators who should come up with policies and plans that will develop our football. 10 Likes 1 Share |

nelszx: Yes! We can can as well pick players from Agege or Ajegunle because we might see players that can suit our tactics since Osimhen keeps missing goals, and co are not living up to expectations. |

Ndubuisi Emmanuel Egbo should be hired instead of Emmanuel Amuneke...... if eventually Rohr is dismissed. If however Amuneke won't mind to be his Assistant, then he should be hired as well, along with Salisu Yusuf. 3 Likes |

Mujtahida: I agree. However the crop of players we have makes this a little peculiar. But for a few (most of whom are forcing themselves on the team), the average age of current and potential players in the eagles is 23 many of whom can still function in age grade competitions. I think we've found ourselves in a peculiar situation and we should get someone who can see it and treat it as such 2 Likes 1 Share |

charlesemeka85: Yeah that is part of the reason why westerhoof and bonfere Jo succeed. Ducht, Brazilian, Spanish football allow creativity and improvisation which our best players are made for. In fact, Otto Gloria our afcon 1980 winning coach was Brazilian. So it's a long time. Any coach that stiffles our creativity does not get the best out of us. 11 Likes 2 Shares |

Mujtahida: However, Westerhof was involved and concerned with the holistic development of our football. He knew even quality players of 10 years old. Not an exaggeration. Westerhof was fully involved with the selection of the U17 team. He knew rising Stars in the local league. He found Amokachi, I think at 16 years and brought him to train with the Super Eagles. That is the kind of coach we need. Not looking at European countries that have everything working for them. 1 Like |

My search for Nigerian coaches in Europe lead me to a Nigerian at Chelsea by name Hassan Sulaiman, he is the current U16 coach there, and he recently won the U16 Premier League Tournament for Chelsea. Atleast he is one for the future (No be only players we go da mark as one for the future) 9 Likes 1 Share

Eagles Attacking Problems In The Play-offs News Hub Creator As we approach the final Play-offs stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifying Series which is just a couple of months away, there is need to start mapping out the strategies on how to defeat our next opponent. The Play-offs round is certainly not going to be easy for all the teams and that is why Gernot Rohr and his coaching staff must start preparing from now. One area that the Super Eagles must fix in order to cross the last hurdle and book a place in the world Cup at Qatar is the attacking position. This is because the goal ratio of the team has been poor when compared with the past records. Even though Victor Osimhen has been impressive for the team in the previous games, he still lack partner that can compliment his effort. The Napoli striker needs somebody who can help him utilize the number 9 position of the team. This is why Gernot Rohr needs to bring in Cyriel Dessers to fill the vacuum. The Feyenoord forward could be deployed to play just behind Victor Osimhen. They can also interchange the position. In this case, there will be no need for a single striker to carry the burden of scoring goals alone as we have seen in the past games. I believe if Cyriel Dessers is invited, our attacking problem would be solved. 1 Like |

12large1 On a second thought and coming off the back of my watching Supersport program on the road to Qatar, I reckon that there's truth to your assertion that increased number of teams for Africa can lead to better performance. Because what it means is that in 2026 when we get 9 teams to represent Africa, the big boys are likely to represent us in good numbers rather than now where they have to play off each other and knock themselves out before qualifying for Qatar 2022. But then quality of play must improve. Because if you compare the performance of the African giants who qualified for previous WCs against their European and South American peers, you'd see that we have not really lived up to expectation like finding two African teams in the semis. Notwithstanding, I agree with your position. |

TheGoodJoe:Yes Westehof did that but I don't think that template should be extended to contemporary times. My boss usually says that every job should be done at the lowest level competence. What it means is that local coaches should be competent enough to do footballing work at the local level of scouting, training and refining players. Those players will now be funneled to the national team especially nowadays with enhanced competition. Germany did it as revealed in the book 'Das Reboot: How German Football Reinvented Itself and Conquered the World'. National team coach to take up the responsibility of developing our football would be too much work in my opinion. 1 Like |
