The Lagos State Police Command has crushed 482 motorcycles, popularly known as Okadas, impounded at different spots across the State.

The okadas were crushed on Saturday at the Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja.

Speaking at the site where 482 of the impounded motorbikes were crushed, the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, disclosed that the crushing exercise had been on since the enforcement started.

He said the exercise was carried out publicly to convince members of the public, especially the doubting Thomas that the impounded motorcycles were actually being crushed contrary to insinuations by mischief makers that the motorbikes were being sold and recycled.

Odumosu, therefore, warned erring motorcycle operators plying restricted areas and those violating other traffic laws or using motorcycles for criminal activities in the state to have a change of mind or face the legal consequences.

The police boss assured that the crushing exercise would be a continuous one to discourage people from trampling upon the law, and reiterated determination of the Police Command to enforce the law.

I thought they said Lagos leads, why are they crushing motorcycle that you cant fabricate in your state. There are other states yh can negotiate with the govt that still allows motorbikes as means of livelihood for there community as large. Up North where it came from can receive it back in trucks.
You destroy it on what purpose to promote the said up norths in metal scrapping and also causing terror by building up shanties to store them.. Well it's obvious the up North banditry is beyond imagination.

Until Okada riders are imprisoned, they will continue to constitute nuisance in Lagos.

The fuc.king bastards will get another bike and find a better way to evade law enforcement agencies.

This is the way to go.
Impound them and crush it up.
Same way, EFCC should make all those Yahoo boys withdraw their monies and have it shredded in public for all to see.

What's a better way to deter people from crime other than destroying something that could benefit the government so the public will know that the government will rather take loans to buy the same things they destroyed rather than convert the confiscated ones for profitable use simply because useless laws were broken.

But I strongly believe that this should serve as a lesson for those who would rather learn from the lessons of the ones who refused to learn from the lessons of other people's lessons.

The government is not your friend.
Keep your things of value well, or it will be misused by the person who values it not.

If you sexually, emotionally, financially or physically ignore your woman to concentrate on work, the heavenly race or making more money; one hooligan who fears neither god nor man will impound her like this.

The last photo reminds me of how I was crushing and demolishing Pastor Kunle's wife's kpekus every single time he stayed back for prayer meetings or went on retreats.

When u only have destructive policies there is no economic growth just few people enjoying the largesse of the state.

What are the regulations and policies in place to sanitize our transportation systems while keeping jobs and the environment secure?? undecided

I have no issues with the crushing, I just feel it should not stop. They must continue till the nuisance on our roads are taken off. A total ban on okada is what is left. No need to restrict them.

I don't know if the government's action is good or bad..but all I want to know is hope they will give grants to the owners of those bikes or mobilize them to start a business?

Cause without that, they will end up being nuisance to the society.

Okadas need to be banned in the Western region cause they're becoming a nuisance, same with Keke. They're polluting our region.

It's only in the SW you see people riding keke Marwa and okada en-masse. This is not good for our region. If they go, we would adjust.

Story, you crush hundreds and thousands are on their way from north.
Go to Mile 2 okoko, ikeja, agege. And you see under age abokis with okada driving nonsense,
Until Lagos muster political will to deal with these okada raiders.
There will be going in a circle.
Okada have been banned in major cities in the north and east.
But Lagos is still playing politics with it.

Go back to your village. We don't want more miscreants in Lagos. The ones groomed by the Jagaban are enough. Non Yorubas should not come and become nuisances in Lagos.
