Kobojunkie: What is the meaning of the word "Church" I believe you know the meaning. These realities of life are all embedded in the scriptures. You see, Jesus talked about the foundation of a house in the Bible. The wind blows and so on. You know that already. The beginning, the foundation or the root are all pointing to the same thing, if the foundation.of the marriage is faulty, what can the righteous do? You know all these things. |

Righteousness2: The reason why there are no marriage ceremonies in the Bible is because marriage did not involve a ceremony. Marriage in the Bible simply consists of a man and woman, with the consent of the woman's father or guardian, living together and attempting procreation. Since the brides parents are also part of the body of Christ, is the blessing they give not enough? |

God2man2again:Are you certain you have ever actually read that parable at all as Jesus Christ made no reference to marriage in that entire context - Matthew 7 vs 24 - 29? Instead the parable, He told to emphasize the importance of obedience of His teachings and commandments for those who will choose to become worthy of Him - His followers. |

Kobojunkie: So you just plug a flower from a garden without asking the garden keeper or the owner? Is that what you are implying? Why did Abraham's servant sought to consent of Isaac's wife's parents? |

Re: Is Church Wedding Important? by Kobojunkie: 12:14am On Nov 21, 2021 |
Minjim:1. Again, it is an agreement between a man and a woman. 2. God didn't say to follow the culture of Abraham's time but to obey His commandment. |

Re: Is Church Wedding Important? by Asour: 12:32am On Nov 21, 2021 |
Righteousness2: Your intentions are great but unfortunately your claims untrue or at least unconvincing. Likening the church to marriage is a simile. It doesn't mean a physical church building. Besides the church is not necessarily a physical building. If it is, does God reside there when fellowship is done and the place locked up — most of the time? Moreso, could you give us an instance of a church organized wedding similar to what we have today in the bible? The only recorded wedding ceremony in the bible — of which Jesus attended— Jesus Christ attended as a guest not even a moderator or presiding head. and there was no indication that a pastor presided either. God help us. |

Jemerson: For all intents & purposes in Nigeria today, they are the same. That why they happen the same day. In fact the definition of reception is to entertain the church guests. Isn't it. Or else who are you receiving? |
Re: Is Church Wedding Important? by Asour: 12:39am On Nov 21, 2021 |
endallinfection: Hahahah. The question wasn't whether it was bad but if it was important. Im ok with it but most Christian can't rationally face the truth that it's not important. I.e. it can be done without — while taking nothing away from a couple's status. |
Re: Is Church Wedding Important? by Asour: 12:47am On Nov 21, 2021 |
Mercychen: Rites & traditions do not a church make. By taking authority over presiding on couple's wedding, the church (by biblical references) is overreaching, even though their intentions are good. Consider that when Paul preached (Paul himself o) to the bereans (Acts 17:11) they (bereans) went back home to search the scriptures themselves to see whether those things (what he taught) were so (true). Asking members of a church (who are not proudly protesting) not to validate a rite /tradition is a bad precept & not biblical as you see above. N.B. I'm ok (not opposed) with 'church' wedding but we christians should humbly question truely trivial practices. |

I’d like for us to stand before the altar of God you know all special occasions begin with the church. With modern times there’s compromise but for me it says a lot. There’s this new fad with just trad but I’ve always felt it’s not binding as per you can leave anytime but under God lol and the countless times wey we sweat for another persons day when it’s your turn nobody can shake |
Re: Is Church Wedding Important? by Kobojunkie: 3:40am On Nov 21, 2021 |
solasoulmusic:I am afraid even your church wedding isn't binding since the real marriage , if you follow God's Law on marriage, happens the moment the man and woman agree to join as one. |
Re: Is Church Wedding Important? by prophetfire: 3:46am On Nov 21, 2021 |
Righteousness2:There's no where in the whole scriptures that God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, apostles, any prophet, any priest or anyone whatsoever conducted, directed to conduct or advised anyone to engage in that charade they call Church wedding. Where do those busybody pastors that conduct weddings derive their authority from? Who authorized them to begin to "join" people together in the name of wedding? Power hungry folks hijack something meant for the coupes family to do. Body of Christ, Body of Christ. Christ the Head of the Body specified what His Body, the Church should be doing and wedding is not one of them. They abandon what Christ told them to be doing and design their own job description. Nonsense. Even Christ attended a traditional wedding as a guest. He didn't hijack it but even provided wine for them to support them. He stayed by the side and allowed them to do their thing because wedding isn't part of His job description. The so-called church wedding is nothing but one of the European countries traditions they imported into the church in the days they set out to corrupt the church with their man-made laws and practices, thereby weakening the spiritual life of the church. You can't be indulging in what Christ Has deliberately stayed away from and be claiming right. It's just greed, power-grab and covetiousness. Church coveting what God didn't give them while abandoning the ones He gave them because of greed. |
Re: Is Church Wedding Important? by prophetfire: 4:08am On Nov 21, 2021 |
Mercychen:You are really the confused folk here. There's no where in the entire scriptures where the church is authorized to join people together in marriage. Christ didn't do or advice to do so. Infact nobody in the Bible engaged in that charade you people call Church wedding. Christ attended a traditional wedding in the home of the family and even support them with wine but didn't officiate or hijack it. Exact opposite of what your pastors do. They charge money, hijack the process, officiate and claim to be empowered to join people together. Who empowered him to do so? Himself. Where did your so-called pastor that doesn't follow the Bible derive the authority with which he joins people together? Which divine law, principles and authority is he operating from. How can he stand on a so-called altar of God and be engaging in activities Christ stayed away from? Church wedding is a European culture imported into the church in the days when the church was engaging in power-grab and bringing man-made laws and practices into the church. You modern day Christians are too funny and dumb that you don't study the Bible or ask your pastors questions. |
