Danielnino00: Are you saying if Junior Lokosa was your brother, you will advise him to turn down the deal to leave the country? If that is not what you will advise, then you are arguing against reality. “The changes we made today were effective. What it shows is that we use the best players available at any given time and we will always do that. It doesn’t matter if you play at the moon; the most important thing is what you are able to do on the pitch. A player’s country of residence doesn’t matter; what matters is giving us quality performance.”...Sunday Oliseh The point of whether the player is in an obscure league is not the point. The point is finding the best possible talents, utilizing the little opportunity we have. The truth is that we have to keep searching as much as we can. Unearthing gems is the point. |

TheLoneCitizen: Lookman have not been on his best form at Leicester ,maybe because his game time is limited there but he is still better than onyekuru this season Onyekuru has played 13 match in Greece of all places with just 1 goal and 1 assist ,is it no this same onyekuru that finds scoring goals easy at a better turkey and Belgium ? 2 Likes |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 12:26pm On Nov 21, 2021 |
Danielnino00: You are missing the point. No one said it should be a permanent way. I said we can not work with the models of European teams who have a system of securing the best talents for themselves. They have UEFA pro license coaches coaching in the academy. Something that many pro league players don't get exposure to. So is the solution to fold our arms and hope our grassroots football transform into that of the Europeans? While we are hoping and maybe working towards having a wonderful grassroots project, we need a contingency plan to close gaps. That was what Westerhof did. He used the Super Eagles as a means to quicken the identification and development of players. This worked wonders and we had the same process going on in the U17 and U20. The national team became a bedrock for bright talents to have a chance to break through and become exceptional. Think of Amokachi at 16 years getting a chance to work in the National team and ending up a star. |

TheGoodJoe: Junior Lokosa is actually my "brother" to some extent cus we are from the same tribe... I gave you an example of the reality on ground...The reality on ground is that players are running away from the league to make money elsewhere... What you said about "improving their performance" doesn't matter to them... We are unearthing enough gems in the cadet teams, in academies in Nigeria and clubs in Europe because there are structures in place to discover them... The local league is simply not organised enough. Your idea won't work at this moment in time... |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheLoneCitizen(m): 12:30pm On Nov 21, 2021 |
Meliforme: Sir, technique refers to the way a player receives, passes or shoots the ball. As well as the body posture when taking this action. (modified). It's one of the very few attributes that never leaves a player even as they age. |

Danielnino00: When you think we are limited, you think we are doing enough. Sorry, we are not. We have no fullback that can compete with Cancelo. Neither do we have a midfielder as good as Bernardo Silva. Look at Portugal. Look at Brazil and see stars. Look at Spain. A team blessed with so many players can line up teenage sensations like Puig, Pedri, and Gavi. So it is not true if you think we are doing enough. We are not even scraping the surface of the earth that has our hidden gems. 2 Likes |

TheGoodJoe: So our own Cancelo, Dias and Bernardo are in the local league that doesn't even have a resumption date yet because the people in charge of it are clueless.. The same local league where match fixing is common due to the "home must win syndrome". That's great!! 1 Like |

Danielnino00: And you think the academies are organized? How many academies have you been to? The Valencia academy for instance have about 10 world class football pitches, world class hostels and other training materials. The academies here train at primary schools with no basic training equipments like dummies. Just cones and bips. Let's continue decieving ourselves. 1 Like 1 Share |

Danielnino00: That is why the national team can be used as an opportunity to help in the search and development of hidden special talents. Westerhof went as far as watching amature tournaments in different areas of Nigeria. Remember a 16 years old Amokachi called up to the National team and became a gem to Nigerian football. Because Westerhoff understood the challenges of the local scene but had a sincere belief in the potential of Nigerian football, he was able to keep searching for talents. As long as things are so bad in local football, the footballers need all the help they can get. In the long run, it will benefit us massively. |

andrewbaba44: Danielnino00:Brothers, Lookman has 2G+A in 12 games for Leicester. Both goals came in the Carabao Cup. Henry also has 2G+A in 13 games, but both came in the Europa League. You are making it sound like Lookman is having a banner campaign while Onyekuru is an Olympiacos flop. 1 Like |

Yeah Lookman hasn't exactly been pulling up trees with his performances lately. The wingers whose form should deservedly get them into the team are Ejuke and Dennis. M.Simon has been great for his club but absolutely dire for the SE. I'm still holding out on Onyekuru to come good in the GWG. The little bit I saw of him against Lesotho and Benin earlier this year makes me think he has loads to offer. TheLoneCitizen: 2 Likes |

Boss Joe times have changed. Clemens could afford to look inwards because we didn't have too many players doing it in Europe at the time. Developing local talents takes time a luxury national team coaches don't have. Even Keshi that tried it how many were the back bone of his team? Oboabona (who immediately went to Europe) and Sunday Mba who had an indian summer for us at the 2013 AFCON. talent development, scouting and training is something that our local teams should handle ordinarily. You don't need super powers of observation to scout local play grounds, street tournaments and the likes to find hidden gems it's the polishing of these gems to such a state to get the attention of national team coaches that's usually the problem. I dare say the local coaching and scouting of talent during Westerhof's time was way better in comparison to today because the scouts were good at finding such talents plus the coaching was decent so players of natural ability were quite many in the league. So of course Clemens could pick these guys because a lot of Nigerian coaches had already done the hardwork of cleaning up those players a bit. To solve our issues today the type of mentality our coaches have has to change. Emphasis should be placed on identifying technically skilled youngsters not just power and pace. Grassroots need serious funding to properly nurture talents. Place quota system on NPFL club side to have between 5-7 academy players be part of their squads this will push them to focus on catching and developing young talents in their locality. TheGoodJoe: |

Mujtahida: Skills and technique are very different. De Bryune and Bruno Fernandes have two of the best techniques in England, but they aren't so skillful. Traore is one of the best dribblers in world football, but he lacks good technique. Sadio Mane on the other hand has both good dribbling skills and technique. They are very different attributes, brother. 1 Like |
